Well there's a reliable source. If it's true keeping trouble makers out seems like a good idea to me.

I've heard of convenience stores playing classical music at top volume to discourage kids from loitering.

At any rate, a bar/club owner will name his/her establishment a certain name and give it a certain look to attract a certain clientel. If you feel excluded from frequenting said bar then too bad. Myself, I won't enter a bar named the rainbow rump-azz room because I don't think its geared to my tastes or lifestyle. Doesn't mean they're discriminating against me...just my opion.

Valid point. It's not really about race or anything else. I can imagine the Lexus-and-latte crowd feeling excluded, but that's their choice as well.

At any rate, I know some folks who frequent that bar. I asked why the name was changed and they told me that there were African Americans frequenting the place and "causing trouble", so the owner changed the name.

Is it their perrogative? Sure... but it seems like a pretty clear case of descrimination to me...

of course thats the reason they changed the name...its just way to obvious....

Legends has no problem what so ever...and its right up the road....I love that place. oh and there is now a Martini's lounge in White Plains too in the little shopping plaza....anyone been there? are they the same owners as Martini's lounge in Ft. Washington?

African Americans, what actually does this mean? If they are from Africa are they African Americans, if they are from American....aren't they just Americans? Just wondering.

Martinis is great too....country and southern rock, on certain nights, my neighbor works there. I think they are going to have a dress code soon, no sagging pants, hats on sideways, not conferate T's, shirts tucked in, no colors - this will weed out the trouble, And they have a limo that will drive you home and you must tip the driver very well.

Oh come on Rob... I was just trying to be nice. This has nothing to do with etymology.

Would you have preferred I used the N word?

Nope...I don't use that word either but why not call them what they really are and that is Americans. Everyone wants to be equal, then why put a color on it or another damn country....whatever.

I swear, there's always someone who's going to get their cute little panties all twisted up and Mommy will have to straighten it out for them. Back in Yuma we had a place that had saddles for bar stools. It was called Walt Garrison's Country place and not one person complained that it was intended to keep city folks out or reflected badly on the community. What a bunch of friggin' crybabies.

There was also a place in YUMA called the "Back room" or Back door"
One side was country and the other side was rock....or....
was that Fallon?
Anyhow, I never could figure out how the kept the two blaring musics seperated.
