Good showing on the defense. Loved Fletcher!

I can only hope that the O-line shapes up.

A win is a win.

YOU WANT TO PICK THE CHARGERS WITH NORVILLE TURNER AT THE HELM?
We don't have 'Joe Gibbs' circa the first time around, which would have to include Bobby Beathard and Jack Kent Cooke. Unreasonably, that's what I hoped for. We have, and are coming to accept, Joe Gibbs II with NO GM and Dan Snyder.

We have Greg Williams, Al Saunders, Joe Bugal and a cast of 1,000's more coaches and quality control people and go-fers and specialists. In short, we don't really, at least I don't, have a clue of what we actually have.

I'll illustrate;

Titans; Jeff Fisher
Colts; Manning and Dungy
Pats; Brady and Belichick and 'team'
Bears: Lovie and Defense
Chargers; Marty and LT
Seahawks; Holmgren

I mean, think of any currently good team and certain identifiable characteristics come to mind as to why they do well.

Think of the old Skins; The Hogs, running the ball, good WR's, gutty QB's, mostly big armed except for Joe T, stout, kinda no name defense, solid special teams. Just good teams without a lot of super, super stars, very few high draft picks plus Joe, Bobby and Jack. At least that's the images that pop in ones head.

What are we?

Jason Campbell MIGHT be the guy at QB. He at least makes one think of Doug Williams and all the old guys who would get killed trying to get rid of it.

Portis will never be a 'Redskin'.

The line is on the edge of disaster if Samuels and Thomas are hurting all year plus a big change at left guard.

WR? Who knows? Lloyd is not a 'Redskin' but for bad reasons, unlike Portis who plays HARD but just doesn't seem to fit. Moss lost his cool at a few key times last year; very un-Redskin.

Defense? How many great defenses are built around #1's...in the backfield???

Special teams seems like it is OK.

In short, we don't know. The excitement of pre-seasons past is bogged down right now, at least for me, in the crushing weight of unfulfilled expectations.

I can't wait for the season to start, but, in all honesty, there's just not very many reasons to get too excited about the Skins right now.

That is very tough for me to say.

Here's why I like the Chargers...

...they had NE beat. They lost due to some boneheaded plays.

That's motivation #1; they know they can beat NE which you gotta be able to do in the AFC.

Motivation #2 is the bad taste from that loss.

They beat a bunch of good teams during the regular season, pretty convincingly.

So, motivation #3 is they know they are one of the best teams.

Next is the D is solid. Championships start with defense.

They can score with an fantastic offense, including the ability to run against anyone. After defense comes the running game.

Norv can coach some O, so, that's the third leg, they can score.

Defense, running game and ability to score.

And the motivation to take the next step.

I think Indy's run is done now that they reached the pinnacle. I think NE has got more missing parts than the last 5 years and are on the decline. Getting Moss is, to me, a desperation move.

And, these days, if we're talking AFC champ, we're talking Super Bowl champ.

Norv has been around. I think there is as much reason to see him taking the next step as anyone.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Ya gotta

remember, Norv was totally handcuffed in Oakland. He had two good receivers in Moss and what's his face Porter (from D.C.) but no run game and a merry go round of no name qb's. The tools are in place in San Diego for Norv all the Chargers have to do is execute. He did have a little success in Dallas with some talented players to field.

I have not seen the Skins yet (no coverage in SC last week) but I feel we can be a solid wild card come week 16. I have the makings for some good Kool-Aid but I'll save the good stuff for later in the season. It'll probably be by the skin of their teeth but a win is a win like BL said.

So, are we going to have a forum Skins vs. ??? get together or two this season? BWB in L'town has several large plasmas and a Skins fanatic s an owner.
