Reliable Daycare

Does anyone know of a good daycare in Southern Maryland? I have looked at the main ones but I cannot afford $330.00 a week.

My momwas watching my son and she injured her back and told me she couldnt watch him anymore. I am having such a hard time dealing with the fact that I have to leave him with a complete stranger. :bawl: I can't seem to pull myself together ... I keep breaking down.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Can you narrow down the location? Times you need care?

How old is your baby? A few months, right?

Finding infant daycare certainly is challenging, especially for a child less than two years of age.

My cousin does daycare but she might be out of your way -- she lives in Mechanicsville. If you're interested, let me know.

Dameron Daycare. Look it up. Mary Norris is amazing!! Her center has been open 20 years, but she's been at it maybe for eight. She treats every child as if he or she is her own.

I am doing the same thing right now, my regular quit on me. So I am on the wait list for a great local center.

I have interviewed and gone to all of the local centers. I have opinions about them all. I, personally, do not trust home daycares and won't leave my baby at a home daycare that I don't know the person. But that's just me..way too many horror stories from people. I can't do it.

Why are you saying 330? do you have another child in daycare also? That's not just him, right? Because the highest I found for one bebe is 275, and most are in the 225-250 range.

She has no openings for infants.

I think she also has a step son. So that might be where the $330 is coming from.

I agree I preferred to have my little ones in the centers but the wait lists are atrocious! I thought I would have been given some type of specdial treatment seeing as I had 3 other kids in the center...but it didnt happen!

Luckily one of my clients is a provider, I knew her very well before even having the kiddos so I really trusted her which made it some what easier to leave them.

There are very many reliable home daycares in the area with ladies who love and care for the children in their care as if they were their own...unfortunately most of the good ones are full. In my opinion, home daycare gets more one on one with each child, some centers have way too many kids in each class, and some have different caregivers throughout each day.

JMO- home daycare for infants and centers for preschool age.

You must just go with your gut feeling, you will feel completely comfortable when you find the right provider!!! Good Luck

I also agree that $330 is way to much for one child

Creative Beginnings is 330 a week for a 6 month old.

Actually, the wait lists right now aren't terrible. I JUST narrowly missed a spot (the other mom called the day before me) at my first choice center. And there are two centers that have avialable infant spots this moment..one was 275 :)nomoney: ) and the other 225.

But with two kids, I could def see how it could get too pricey. I have a hard time with the one I have.

I really wish more employers had daycare centers. I would gladly stay with a co that paid me less, if they had decent and affordable daycare for employees.

And WR, employees in Mclean have a daycare discount program . We get no such thing :( I think we should gather a few moms and write a letter to someone, I think it fair we should get the same benefit.

I have heard a lot of good things about Faith Kidz Christian Learning Center on Chancellor's Run Road and their rate is pretty reasonable for an infant. I am the complete opposite though when it comes to daycare. I prefer a home daycare. The ladies that I have had in the past were wonderful, and I felt really bad about taking the kids out when a relative volunteered to watch them. Good luck!

Really? Wow when I was looking it was a 6 month minimum wait. Like I said they wouldnt even give me first pick before outsiders when I had my 3 other kids in the center.

$225 is and excellent price for an infant at a center BTW. I was paying $340 a week for an infant & a potty trained 4 year old.

Agreed. The company that I work for offers back up child care to employees in NoVa. It would be awesome if that was offered around here!

It's one of the hardest things you'll ever do but millions have done it before and survived. You'll get used to it.....eventually. :huggy:

Does the County gov't. website list county-approved in-home sitters/daycare? I would start there.
