They are maybe 10 years old and a bit loud. But get the job done. SMECO is offering rebates for old and working A/c units, dehumidifiers and freezer/fridges. Only 25$-50$ each. I don't want to buy until I need them, but of course that could be a last minute emergency purchase. Also, my installer is moving away with my niece at the end of the month. 😥

If you need/want a new window a/c, I highly recommend an inverter unit. Absolutely quiet, only hear the fan running. Worst case power use is 600 watts, in ECO mode it's less than 250w, far better than 5000w for the central unit. 12000 BTU. More expensive than a regular a/c, but I think it's worth it. Savings in the electric bill should be pretty good this summer.

Yes, EG4 makes one, as well as a few others. They've made them very easy for DIY installs, no A/C tech needed. I just wanted a small window unit to offset the central.

Going to run a few tests, but pretty sure I can run this one from my solar generator that I built a few years back.

If I had more wall space in my man cave I would make the investment ... yeah no AC tech required, I watched a neat YT video last year

I find myself watching a lot of TV and reading. I'm going to the beach and pool more often. My house is cleaner, more detailed. I take Gretel on lots of walks. And afternoon naps. I'm trying to decide if I'm enjoying retirement or if I need to get off my ass and get at least a part time job.

Wait, what? I thought black tape was black tape!







I actually use marine grade shrink tube over 3M shrink connectors when doing boat trailers. I still only expect 2-3 years before rewire.
