What's the old saying? "An emergency on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Ed Zachary! And saying they are going to do something is vastly different than it being done.

Reminds me of the riddle about the frogs on a log: Four frogs are on a log and three decide to jump. How many are left on the log? Four, because deciding to do something is not the same as actually doing it.

Commissioner Todd Morgan posted this blurb today on his FB page:

Just because it is now approved doesn't mean the contractor will actually get the job done in a timely matter. :ohwell:

I wonder if Morgan and the other brainiacs in Leonardtown thought we would run out of food and beer if that shopping center had not been built?

Don't care what excuses anyone makes, I still blame them.

Meanwhile, the new Nissan dealership went from flat land to a fully functioning and open car sales dealership in the same time ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has happened at 235/Airport road. :lmao:

...and they block the rightmost lane when getting their cars as their lot is too small for the car carrier to get off the public thoroughfare.

Agreed however, that only obstructs those who get in that lane to travel 1/2 mile to turn at Chancellor's Road (from Walmart). Still plenty of room to turn into the shopping center and at Chancellor's AFTER the truck.

Carrier trucks have been doing that for years on 235 SB in front of United Rental. Travel SB on 235, move over to the right turn lane for a turn at Maple, come around the bend in the road and HELLO!!!! Quick evasive action to avoid the truck or being rear-ended by someone behind you that isn't paying attention.

This is a good example. United (although on NB 235) often has trucks parked in the turn/merge lane and it does not leave a lot of room to turn onto Maple.

Not sure why you're blaming "Morgan and the other brainiacs". That shopping center is being built be private business, in an area that is zoned as commercial, and is located in the development district in accordance with the zoning master plan. If you have a beef, it should be with the SHA. They're the ones responsible for the road work on state route 4.

You talking about this master plan that says "Adopted by the Commissioners of St Mary's County", or some other master plan?

Yes I am.

Again, as I've already said, SHA is responsible for the construction on Rt. 4

Where would you expect private industry to want to build a Harris Teeter? St. George's Island?

Of course not. They built it in the development district.

I guess you missed the point.

Why do we need another liquor store and another burrito restaurant? We were not at risk of running out of either.

No, I didn't miss "the point". Private industry does market research and assumes the financial risk when putting in a new business. You ask "Why do we need another liquor store". Well, name one liquor store that has failed. There's obviously a market demand out there. Same goes for burritos.

I saw this and thought of this situation...

Then I read a comment and someone said "Not sure why my country would fix a road in Japan" .... :lmao:
