As a general rule, I don't care one way or the other about Muslims. But if I were a member of Congress, I'd put up a bill that says there will be NO Muslim congregation spots within a hundred miles of any Presidential facility.

But that's just me. I'm all cautious like that, and not afraid of offending people in the name of security.

we have several muslims who work here, and i seriously doubt they are plotting anything other than their own enlightenment when they go to the mosque.

Actually they were Iraqis, although I know of several Iranian docs in this area (most Iranian expats are not very religious).

You know who bankrolled that place? Google "Mosque That Saddam Built" and you'll put up the WaPo article.

Knowing no more about it than that one article from the first post, it does seem to be as you describe it here. On one hand, they quote the mayor as specifically describing the problem as being that they're Muslim, and the current state of terrorism is primarily Muslim extremists - a natural fear, though not fair to the millions of non-extremist Muslims.

On the other hand, their mayor works at his feed store, not in a city hall? Sounds like a pretty small town that probably doesn't want "thousands" of people there for a convention each year, either. :shrug:

You must be one of them. When my ancestors came here, the USA didn't change all their signs & protocol to acomodate them. They didn't change the phone prompts to say press 1 for Italian. This country has done very well the way is was and I am not happy with what it's turning into. I was born here and I will not stand idly by and watch the libs turn it into a 3rd world country. I see more danger here than ever before and I feel less able to do something about it than ever before, that's because of the freedoms you people give the enemy! Freedom of religion here is allowed but when the religion is the deadly kind, we need to restrain it. There are many peaceful ones here and I'm OK with that, but not all of them are. Gee, when my ancestors came here they had no roads to put signs on, yet I have no trouble with those who come here and live in peace.

I repeat the oft used phrase regarding the First Amendment- it was not written to protect the speech/ religions that you LIKE.

The nuts and bolts are the same, but American culture has always been dynamic and changing. Each new wave of immigrants brings a new flavor to the table. The fact that we can have a society comprised of so many different ethnicities is what makes us strong. We don't break because we can bend. People who feared for their lives in their country of birth come hear and live wonderful and prosperous lives. It's like giving all the opressors of the world the finger.

It's not OK and they'll stand in judgement for that evil but it's not typical of, nor right for Christians to do that. (I was speaking of my Italian Grandparents however).
