Go into a communist county in the 1970's...lets say Romania. Show some discontent for the 'supposed' popular government and see how well you're treated by all those who 'supposedly' agree with the government.stormer41 said:Why is it that the popular kids never seem to get into trouble and the schools around here seem to take sides with them?
OMG. You are soooo edumacated.BuddyLee said:Go into a communist county in the 1970's...lets say Romania. Show some discontent for the 'supposed' popular government and see how well you're treated by all those who 'supposedly' agree with the government.
Maybe there's a problem with preference falsification here. Some may not really like the popular kids but it's far too costly for them to speak up against them.
Nah. I still have tons more to learn.BS Gal said:OMG. You are soooo edumacated.
Don't we all.......BuddyLee said:Nah. I still have tons more to learn.

Me thinks you are getting a sanitized version of the story.stormer41 said:more like student and teacher problems....
The popular kids torment my daughter, and nothing gets done about this. The teachers blame my daughter for disruptions in the class, when she tells the others to leave her alone or to be quiet. When she tries to tell the teacher about what is going on, the teacher tells her either you can go to the back of the class for disrupting or I'll send you to the office....at the same time these kids are laughing and still making snide comments...and the teacher doesn't consider that to be a problem....I have told her how it could be handled, but she would probably get suspended...So where does one go from here, when the schools are unwilling to do anything about this. I have made complaints to them about this...and it's like they don't even want to be bothered...It's always....."We'll have a talk with these students and see what the promblems are". Talking only works so much....

Maybe you should pop into a few of her classes.huntr1 said:Me thinks you are getting a sanitized version of the story.
How old is your daughter?? If she totally ignores them, they will stop. They keep it up because she is responding to them. If they see no reaction from her, they will move on to another.stormer41 said:more like student and teacher problems....

I moved to MD when I was 11, from the south, right in the middle of the 6th grade school year. I was teased about my accent, but was in honor's classes, so at least I wasn't teased for being smart. I ignored it, made friends with people I liked, and it went away. Middle school age kids are nasty, it's the absolute worst age IMO. She just needs to ignore it.stormer41 said:Been there and done that....doesn't work ....she is 13, and new to the school, and I guess also being an honor roll student doesn't help her either. Yes, they make fun of her for being smart. These kids don't seem to care about the ignoring, they seem to be trying to provoke her into hitting them....I tell her not to let them get to her...cause they will probably amount to nothing. But telling that to a 13 yr old, is like talking to the wall...
As soon as I hit high school I worried about nothing but my studies, it was a big change from years past. I merely did my work in class whereas some others didn't do anything at all. People thought I was 'smart' when all I really did was my required work. Throughout the next few years I would sometimes get teased about doing my work or being smart but just like any other half-witted remark, I let it go over my shoulder.stormer41 said:Been there and done that....doesn't work ....she is 13, and new to the school, and I guess also being an honor roll student doesn't help her either.
