he will not get it ... dont tell him bark yet...

GET A CLICKER!!!

have him inside.... HOLD a treat and get him worked up... DO NOT TELL HIM TO BARK, SPEAK OR NOTHING.... the point is the dog needs to figure out the behavior on his own. The second he starts to figure it out "click him" and give a treat. then repeat....

its not that hard ... it may take a while for him to figure it out but once the behavior is there then you can mold it and once it is solid then you can give it a word.

Of course, this only works if your dog is driven by food reward... I've had more than one dog that would ignore the treat and keep barking, because what they wanted when you worked them up was interaction, not food... They'd ignore the food.

Which worked out nicely in competition when they would randomly sprinkle hotdogs around the field trying to distract the dogs...

:lmao: Good V!!

I trained a lot using tennis balls and tugs (prey reward). At Harley's first trial, during the Civil phase (dog restrained, no gear on decoy, decoy tries to distract dog and 'tag' handler) the decoy tried to use a tennis ball as a distraction. Threw it way wide... Harley leapt, caught it in mid-air, and befor ethe decoy could twitch, was back in position TRYING to bark and be aggressive but with a tennis ball in his mouth. :lmao:

They were going to give us a zero score for that until the decoy swore to the judges that if he had come in, he would have gotten bit, ball or no ball. :yay: That was friggin' hysterical. :roflmao:

Adopt me please !
I think ICit said the boys find their brain when they get older ...... so there's hope.

Browning will do anything for food. He is very food motivated. The only problem is that he is dumb and he doesn't get things very quickly. But, he tries really hard. And he is cute!:yahoo:

Methodically disorganized
I wish I could adopt Timmy, I miss having a boy in my kitty clan. I have 3 and that's 1 beyond my self-imposed limit. I really hope Timmy gets a great home.
Even numbers work so much more nicely. Limit is 2, then you add 2, then I would say, "Good for you!". 4 is better than 3, surely you can see. :huggy:

Have you ever met Timmy? He is an awesome cat; with a lot of personality. I have a weakness for orangies! But we have a total of 6 cats already :jameo:

Timmy is the most awesome kitty that we have ever had the pleasure of being around. He is a very good boy and he has a wonderful personality. We've been hoping for two plus years now to find Timmy a forever home.
