One day I showed up at Tri-County with so much stuff MY SUV (full size) was stuffed in every cubic inch behind the driver/Passenger seats with bags of bedding/linens etc. They were looking at me like wow - I said NO it's not just me - many people donated, I just collected it. I get a lot of personal satisfaction from helping the critters - thanks for your contribution :buddies: .

I have to tell you this, I know that any donations and contributions everyone makes, we are not looking for recognition, we love, love, love the animals. That being said. I've taken up a collection at my work (large bank), for the past 2 years, and have done is solely for Tri County. Just because I don't want these poor animals to have to suffer at any shelter. I've never done it for recognition or for anyone benefit other than to help the poor dogs and cats that are residing there. That being said.. It's pretty sad that when I go to drop said donations off, BOTH years now, I couldn't get a single employee to lift a finger, they WATCHED me unload a fully loaded SUV riddled with dog food, dog toys, cat food, linens more than anyone could imagine, EVERYTHING the manager listed they may need. This past Christmas, it was a Saturday around noon, I get that they are closing, but for them to actually WATCH me unload this HUGE amount of stuff and stack it all at their door, was...quite honestly pathetic. Will I do it again, absolutely, but shame on their employees.

Interestingly, they have never offered to help me unload either. I usually take someone with me to help just because I know they don't come out and help.

I agree with you about WHY we do it. I have been doing it for many years. I also put out wanted posts on Freecycle, and go around and pick up all the donations. There are people at work that donate food to me their pet didn't like, or toys they won't play with, etc.

One lady's dog died and she was so heartbroken she brought me EVERYTHING the dog had, food, clothes (small dog), toys, leashes, collars, you name it. I consoled her and told her one day she'd be ready for another dog and she insisted no, she wasn't getting another dog. About a year later she shows up at my cube with a bag of dog food (opened) and some doggie clothes to donate .... she had another dog - I just smiled so big at her! Made me feel good to know she opened her heart again.

I agree, and again, I don't expect anything in return, I just think it's really cruddy that those employees WATCHED ME unload so much dog/cat food. The VP of my work went out and purchased brand new dog/puppy toys and filled a giant bag which I can only guess was at least $100. And like I said, I'll do it again next year.
