umm no puppy..like 1 year to 3 years-ish. and hiding in the corner is tough..I do have a baby so I would prefer one that didn't seem to have any fear/abuse issues..but sometimes just being there is scary for them, I am sure. just one that is reasonably friendly/warm for the environment..a pug would be perfect (mutts are good too, just no puggles or terriers, I need chilll)

Here are a few little guys at the Charles County Humane Society

I have to clean out my linen closet. I have gotten new towels and have some that can be donated. I also may have a few extra blankets. I just need to look. I usually keep a couple for dog bathing towels but will be using the dog wash at Pepper's Pet Pantry instead. He is just to big for me to lift up.

I also recently changed my dogs's food so I can bring what I had left to them.

no problem! I'm meeting ICit on Sat to drop off my stuff, i got a pm from a lady, i'll call her and grab her stuff and give to ICit also.

great idea!

That's great. We've been supporting Tri-County with linens, shoe boxes, newspapers, litter and lots of other stuff over the years.

They use shoe boxes as beds for the cats. I used to get a call from Payless in Waldorf at least once a weekto pick up shoe boxes they had, but they must have started giving them to someone else because they stopped calling me, and when I called they would say they didn't have any, so I stopped calling. Oh well.

Thanks so much for meeting me yesterday Ark. It was a pleasure and nice to put a face to a name. Also enjoyed meeting Boxy, such a beautiful boy. I'll let you know when I have more things to donate and as I said, anyone with donations in St. Marys can pm me and I'll make arrangements to pick them up.
You're doing a great job and should be commended for your efforts to help the animals. :buddies:

One day I showed up at Tri-County with so much stuff MY SUV (full size) was stuffed in every cubic inch behind the driver/Passenger seats with bags of bedding/linens etc. They were looking at me like wow - I said NO it's not just me - many people donated, I just collected it. I get a lot of personal satisfaction from helping the critters - thanks for your contribution :buddies: .

I went by Tri--County yesterday to drop off more linens. I went in the back and saw some of the sweetest faces. There was a beagle mix female that I could tell had been pregnant in the past and she had not been spayed yet either. She is 7 years old though - so sad that she will likely be put down due to her age.

They also had a hound there too. The puppies there had already been adopted (of course) while the older ones do their time until they are next to be put down unless some caring heart comes to save an older one. It is so hard to go there and leave knowing the fate of some of them.

There was one dog that was right up to the gate when I was talking to her, but when a man stepped up next to me she ran away and barked at him.

They also had some really interesting-looking cats too. One just inside the door on the left (dog side) had that "Maine Coon" look - she was so cute.

I was there yesterday myself. Yes, it is so sad to see the older Dogs, knowing their fate is right around the corner. Did you see the Pug, and the Min-Pin duo? They were so cute. I know someone is really missing them. They were found running together. If not claimed, they will be adopted together. Also, for anyone interested, this month is reduced Adoption Fee month. I think to adopt a Dog, it will only be $75! There are so many loving Cutie-Pies there.

I only went on 1 side. Didn't have time for a complete tour. I really hope someone adopts that 7 year old beagle girl.

I saw her too. She was so calm, and not barking like most of them were. She's pretty small for a Beagle I think. Will you be at the Grand Opening at Pepper's today? You should bring Boxy, he just might find his forever home...you never know.

I saw she was laid back also, and yes she was small huh - hoping that helps her get a home.

My current dog that is dominant makes it difficult for me to add dogs, BUT a low ranking female is a type of dog he has gotten along with in the past. That was when I first got him, and he seemed to get along with a male dog too, but eventually he and the male dog had a fight. Then he fought another male dog over food, so I keep him away from others dogs altogether now.

One of these days I will take him to meet a sweet low ranking girl and see how he does? Right now I can't consider another dog due to Boxy being here.
