Got text message, voicemail on cell and voicemail on house phone from Calvert County Sheriff's office. Two black males, last seen in the vicinity of 3095 Great Reward Way (which is off of Wilson Road), wearing black jeans and black shirt, one with a short buzz cut - armed and dangerous.

Wonderful, way too close to my house for comfort. :yikes: Can you tell me what you had to do in order to get these notifications? I had signed up for the code red when we first moved here 2.5 yrs ago but is there something else I need to do? Is that not the correct way to receive notifications? TIA!

I didn't see this thread earlier and started one, glad you're okay Catt. I knew you were near there, I have a bunch of friends back there too, all are okay.

I'm ok too, ya know! :buddies: JK, how's Florida? Nice and warm?

Been here 22 years...never signed up for anything, but got a call here today.

I wonder how large an area they notify?

Heard all sorts of stories on the bus today....gang related..Lieutenant shot...as well as resident of the home, three perps..one caught..two on the run.

I'm sorry, didn't know you were close also, I'll remember that. Glad you're okay. Florida is great, actually hit 70 today. I keep hearing from the old folks how this has been the coldest winter they can remember and they've been here all their lives. I keep my mouth shut, don't want them blaming me.

Code Red Information

I would try re-registering for code red. If you have questions, call Sandy Simmons at Emergency Management Phone: 410-535-1600 or 301-855-1243, ext 2301 - she will be more than glad to help you.

We are in Bayside Forest, off of Dares Beach Road, next road down from Wilson, and we got the call for "Huntingtown" residents...actually we got 2 calls regarding the incident.

My son and his wife moved up here on Dec. 5 from Riverside, FL. I keep telling them it is their fault we are having a rough winter and I am going to bring them back to FL.

Hmmmm, thanks. I'm not sure how large an area they notify in these cases either but I'd think my house is close enough to get a call. And I'm not surprised about all the different stories....people have such active imaginations.

Oh that's ok. I was just giving you a hard time! Glad you guys have some decent weather again. My friends moved down there from NY in June, they're getting blamed by the locals too! :killingme

Hey neighbor! :howdy: I'll give them a call. I'm on Emmanuel Church Rd, right past the split with Wilson. And I didn't get a call. :cds:

Thank God he'll be ok, how old is he? I don't even want to think about this happening with my little boy in the house. When I was 3, and my Mom was very pregnant with my little brother, we got robbed at gunpoint at home. Scary as hell, I remember it even though I was so young. But luckily they didn't physically harm us in any way.

I wonder if they'll ever catch these punks? Probably not.

19. It's a nice, new housing development with large homes...probably thought they could get in and get some nice stuff. I'm sure they're local.

Greaaaaat

Daughter just called. She doesn't live too far from where the incident happened. Her neighbor was in the garage having a cigarette..man on bicycle going through neighborhood slowly...sees neighbor (and friend) and approaches them. Asks if they have any odd jobs, then asks for money, all the while looking around garage. They ask him to leave and they go in and call police. She called my daughter and told her to close her garage.

Used to be able to keep your doors unlocked not long ago....

It's a shame that it's not really safe to do that anywhere anymore. All my doors are always locked, even when I'm home in the middle of the day. Hubby used to think I was paranoid until this incident hit way too close to home.

Do you think an alarm would have scared these guys off?

I'd hope so but who knows? Anything to draw attention to them should force them to get outta there and go to someone else's house. Between my alarm and my dog, I hope my house doesn't become a target next.
