Seriously, I don't know. Kiddo has been in class with these two girls since pre-k, so I have no idea.
good luck, but i doubt it will turn out to be any more than todays version of "my dad can beat up your dad"

It appears as though I will be at the school first thing in the morning.

Some advice (do with it what you will): Call back, ask to speak to the principal's secretary, and make an appointment with the principal, the counselor, and the teacher. If you don't make an appointment, you will just have to sit in the office and will get more and more spun up because you will have to wait until people are available to see you. They most likely will need to find someone to cover the teacher's class, and that can be difficult. If they know in advance, then they can be all ready for you when you walk in the door.

Just got a call back from PRINCIPA: and he says he talked to kiddo and kiddo said Teacher handled it???? Are you freakin kiddin me...first of all you ask the kid what happened, why not the teacher or counselor. 2nd of all you are telling me that is acceptable to you?? I then explained to @$@$@ principal that this was a death threat, nothing less and that I would at least expect to be notified. He said he was gonna talk to the teacher and have her call me. It appears as though I will be at the school first thing in the morning.

this is where I have an issue. an incident like this should NOT be handled by the classroom teacher. at the least, the counselor should be involved and should be the one to contact, ideally, the principal should know what is going on and contact you.

You're right, this is more of a discipline issue that the Principal or Ass't Principal should handle. The counselor might have been involved, but he/she wouldn't be the one to take charge of the situation.

So kiddo tells me a disturbing story this weekend. Kiddo is eight and in third grade....

She says "sometime in May" two girls in her class put a note on her desk saying "I am going to kill you tonight with a gun."

What say you forumites??
Does your child embellish stories?

When you go in, ask to see the note. If this happened like your daughter told you and disciplinary action was taken, then the note should be on file along with copies of any action taken against these students.

UPDATE:
So, I talked to teacher yesterday, she explained that apparently the note was not intended for my daughter, two other girls were supposedly passing this note back and forth while working in a small group near Kiddos desk. Supposedly the note "just happened" to be left on kiddos desk and was in no way meant for kiddo. Teacher said she notified principal and he advised her to "handle it on her own" . Apparently kids in class were interviewed and it was determined that this version of the story was accurate. Parents of both of these children were notified and children were disciplined. Teacher still has letter. Letter actually said “I am going to kill you with a knife while you sleep” Teacher was very apologetic and she herself seemed irritated that principal refused to be involved in this. I put in another call to principal.

So now I know that principal has lied to me, he WAS made aware of the incident when it happened. He also knew exactly what the note said when he spoke to me as he spoke to kiddo in depth about how she felt about it per kiddo.

This morning I report directly to the school, principal of course is in a meeting, so all I ask for is a copy of said letter. Per secretary principal does not have letter. So I tell them that I know teacher has letter, she told me so yesterday and I want a copy of said letter. They tell me to come back at end of day to pick up. I figured I better say ok and leave before I got all ghetto on their @$@$@, so that is what I did. I sent FCS to get kiddo from school and when he was got there he was told that legally we could not obtain a copy of the letter as it was a private correspondence between those two kiddo’s and had nothing to do with me or my kiddo. ARE YOU KIDDIN ME???? AND, ironically enough principal was not in when FCS got there nor will he be in tomorrow. Next step board of ed, you think??

it is absolutely ridiculous that the principal refused to be involved in this and tried to dump it all back on the classroom teacher! I would take it to the board, if nothing else, it needs to be on record that this principal is attempting to avoid their responsibilities to the parents and to the teacher.

I think the police and CPS should be called lickedy split, because you, as the parent ,are way too close to the situation to be able to truly assess the situation in a sane and rational manner. They really should go in there and talk with your daughter, the teacher, and the principal. You need to stay out of it, because, you are probably part of the problem. A Parent, in general, hasnt' a clue as to the wants and needs of their child, you need to leave this up to the professionals. I wouldn't worry too much if your daughter begs and pleads with you to protect her. She's not old enough, or of the mindset to know what is really best for her, and you for that matter haven't a clue. Trust me on this, let the State do their job, and maybe if you are lucky, and you take heed to the pro's, you can get yourself on the radio and exploit your child's tragedy, and maybe, just maybe, someone will throw you a parade for doing so. :jet:

Just some words of wisdom, from one fabulous mother to another. :yay:

Seriously, what precipitated the death threat? little girls dont usually make death threats.
The killing and intricate dissection of small animals and a glitch in the brain.

Apparently teacher was notified and school counselor was brought in, and the girls were given an "action plan" which to the best of my knowledge, is just like a don't do it again kinda thing. My point is shouldn't I have been at least notified?? With all that is going on in the world today, shouldn't I have been told??

I would have been all over every adult that was involved. Thank goodness it didn't happen but after they were called to the principal's office and confronted about it, the two girls could have gotten pissed off and carried out their threat. Something like that, both girls who communicated the threat should have been expelled.
