Anybody else think that, due to the very young age of the kids involved, there really wasn't as much of a threat here as it is made out to be? * Kids that age say awful things to each other all the time, as they don't really comprehend what they are saying. They pick up a phrase from tv or older siblings, and perhaps nobody was actually comtemplating killing anybody?

*Disclaimer: I still think that the school, and principal especially, dropped the ball. You should have been notified immediately, and their lack of responsiveness since is infuriating.

That is what I have said from the beginning, I do not belive that my daughter was actually going to be shot or stabbed BUT I feel as though I should have been notified.

Loved reading this....have to say that I agree with you! I think that parents should try to ask their children daily how their day went when they get home from school and anytime they are away from them for awhile. The school that my children go to, I pretty much know everything that they are doing, did or are going to do. I can honestly say that there are some good schools in St Mary's County and other ones that I personally would not send my DOG to. I think that nowadays if kids are being threatened with being harmed or being shot....the kids are getting it from some where and most of the time it is coming from HOME. I call it lack of disipline and lack of parental control. I have to feel sorry for the teachers and principals that have to deal with these children that are brought up not respecting ANYTHING! I would not want their jobs for any amount of money! I think that the school should of notified the parents that this had taken place, but I think more that the kids that did the act should be suspended and their parents should take a good hard look at themselves and really buckle down on their kids before it is too late.

I ask my kids everyday and still sometimes don't get told about an event, project, issue, etc. till days later. :shrug: The school should have notified the parents of this SERIOUS occurrence. Joke or no joke from the kid(s) that left the note it is SERIOUS...today's world has proven that and rules/regs have changed based on the recent years school tragedies across the nation.

You may have noticed I haven't discussed the situation; just the people who are happy to belittle a mother who was trying to look out for her daughter the best way she knew how and rub it in her face how much better they are... and then, when she finally snaps after reading all the trash on the forums, these people act amazed that someone would think they were anything less than saintly. The initial situation with the police and CPS was what it was, right or wrong, and was already done; but that sure wasn't enough, was it? Of course not.

I am sure y'all know best since many of you were more than fourth or fifth in the degrees of seperation from the initial phone conversation. I am sure you could make the emergency broadcast system proud in working your way down the phone lists and personal contacts to make sure no one missed out. That is good news. Next time Timmy falls down the well, you bunch of Lassies can bark until someone does something about it.

Yes, that is it exactly. Since the mother and I hang out together all the time, we chat so much, and ... oh wait... we have maybe talked to each other four times in the past three years? Let me tell you - that is always the best person's arse to kiss. Of course, this could be that whole trunk monkey kick again. It is still funny that many of you have missed the point stated clearly above; it is not so much the calling CPS or anything; but the relentless crap going on both in private and public forums and behind the scenes after. The calling CPS could have been done by someone just being very concerned without any malice or other motive and that was already done. It could have been done without involving everyone and their dog, though, and after someone actually talked to the mother and found out what action was really being taken by her and not just assumed. After all... we all know about assumptions. They are still quite apparent to this day.

So, I will make sure not to step on any of your robes or crack your halos while you are airing your righteous indignation. I will just make sure to share mine.
