SMECO gives people many chances and ways to pay overdue bills.

But you don't understand. I told them I put the check in the mail. I finally got my child support from bebe daddy and my income tax refund, so I paid the bill last week. It's not my fault their people don't open the envelopes every day like they're supposed to.

Yeah, but my kids needed new coats this year, and they couldn't decide which color, so I just bought them one of each. And then I had to get the TrackPass thing from DirectV, so I could follow Junyer on the scanner. And I got that big tv at Christmastime and I had to upgrade to DirectV HD.

Just so much going on, I forgot to pay it.

How stupid is that to spend that kind of money and not pay the basic bills like electric, phone, insurance.

They made it well know before the winter started that they would be cutting off electric for those that "take a break" from paying their bill every month during the winter months. :shrug: There is even a thread about it.

And "the check is in the mail" to them is like "I only had two drinks" to the trooper who pulls over the swerving car...

Instead of spending on luxary items, pay your bill..ya could have sent a little each month to show intent.
You really think SMECO believes that line "The check is in the mail?"
They have bills to pay too and you are required to pay for services recieved or suffer the consequences.
Dont go blaming SMECO..

This is the funniest thing today. I swear!

Nacho - call your bank and see if the check cleared. If not, you are probably going to have to pay a re-connect fee. :Bummer: Odds are you can handle payment via their website/over the phone rather than going down there. Also, I'm so super busy I forget crap all the time, and have signed up for email reminders from all of the companies I have accounts with. I also pay via website as well for everybody. Good luck. Sorry for the hassle.

Didn't you see the part about her kids needing new coats... And it makes sense she needed to upgrade to HDTV and all since it would be a waste to have a HDTV without the proper channels...

That would be so great! I was just thinking the other day about going premo, but figured I'd better wait, cuz I had to buy the concert tickets today.
