Solomons Island Turn Around : Waste of Money

I live in america and I can drive on the streets I paid taxes for. Cruising law is BS. Tell the people at the end of the island to move or get over it.

Obviously those of you who are against the turnaround don't live in one of those houses at the end of the island.

If the turnaround is going at the stop sign where the pier is, there are but a few houses there. Most of it is either businesses or BIO lab buildings. You can turn around at the 3-way stop or pass a few more houses if you drive on thru.

I haven't been that far down on the island in awhile. My memory is that you go down past the pier and circle around, and it's all houses until you get spit out back on the main road.

May I suggest a Lemonade as one of your refreshment options? The only bad thing about them is the fact that they taste so damn good, then BAM!you're drunker than hell.

When you get to the end of the island it's pretty simple to just drive around the block, but lotsa folks don't know there's a block to drive around. But actually, there's seldom all that much traffic there anyhow. I have no idea what the roundabout is gonna accomplish.

Actually, I would prefer they just cut a car sized gap in the gaurd rail so people can just drive straight into the water. That would save us alot of problems.

They could build a huge wall with concertina wire at the top and form their own "country club" which would encompass all aspects of 's known to man.

I read that Calvert County is going to spend over $1 million to put a circle at the end of the Island by the lab pier. The plan includes moving a BGE Siren, cutting down an large tree and having to move telephone and power poles.

I have never seen an issue with turning around with the current configeration, what a waste of $ IMO.

I could "halfway" understand if the circle were at the split near the Tiki bar but not at the Lab pier. I make the scenic trip around the loop often and never have encountered traffic after the split. Pickled pedestrians, yes, but sparse vehicle traffic.

That's stupid.. if you could read a map, or think a little bit you'd know there was a way to go AROUND the island without having to turn around at all. Matter of fact, more then one way.

Ummm, I'm well aware thank you very much, the whole point is they want to keep that portion of the road for "local traffic", I try to follow that by being a good citzen the majority of the time and turn at the pier and come back around in fronk of the Tiki bar instead of going all the way around adjacent to the river.

I also mean this in a general sense for any one other than the prolly 10 or so people that live locally in that area.

Or at Prince Frederick... that intersection at 231 is a mess...

Then there's definitely Lusby....
