Exactly.... I think we (as society) are raising a generation of people that are not responsible. They have no understanding of cause/effect and taking responsibility for your choices.

I feel sorry for aborted babies but I feel worse for children who live with their crackhead mom and her string of crackhead boyfriends. I feel sorry for children who are abused, neglected and unloved. If I were the Imperial Grand Poohbah, I'd give an immediate death penalty to anyone who mistreats a child. Since we don't do that in this country, I truly think some kids are better off not even being born.

1st and even 2nd trimester abortions don't bug me that much. But whoever thought up the procedure for partial-birth abortion is a homicidal maniac who should have been locked up. That is just barbaric and I fail to understand why we, as a country, tolerate it.

I agree 100%. Had that little 17 yr old puke who suffocated her baby with a sock had an abortion, that poor baby would not have suffered. As it is, he suffered for the entirety of his short life. Abortion is horrible, I could never do it, but I will not pass judgement on someone who makes that choice. What about the drug addicts who are pregnant? Should they give birth to deformed babies? What about the 14 year old girl who's raped by her teacher? Should she be forced to carry his child? Partial-birth abortion is a different issue. Many times, a standard abortion is performed on a gathering of cells, the "baby" isn't even a fetus yet.

I'm not so much for making 1st trimester abortion illegal, but I think it should be mandatory that anyone going in for one be presented with the facts, not a sugar coated line of BS. :shrug:

I'm talking about a first trimester abortion, the babies probably can't "feel" anything. And I'm sorry, I'd rather hear a story about a teen mom who aborted her child than a teen mom who physically abused her infant.

I agree, and I've heard that a lot of places make you talk with a counselor before agreeing to an abortion. I'm sure it's not as thorough as it could be, but it's a start. Sadly, it's pretty common these days for youngsters to know exactly what goes down during an abortion. Heck, even I know, and I've never even entertained the thought of having one.

The post-fetus won't suffer for long, so long as you go straight for the head. Plus you can save the expense of a pre-natal abortion.

And it's a heck of a lot better than it would have been, had the post-fetus had grown up in a poor single-parent family, or an abusive home. Just ask anyone who's poor or abused. They'd ALL rather be dead.

Christy brings up a good point about giving truthful information to those that want it. I believe this should be enforced into law. IMO abortions will always exist. Just because you make something illegal does not mean it will magically stop. Where there is a will there is a way. I'm not gung-ho about abortion clinics but they are a helluvalot more professional than taking a trip to the bathroom with a wire hanger.

Where the republicans are going wrong is not trying to reduce abortions by prevention of pregnancy. Instead they are villifying those having abortions as murderers, whores, etc. If abortion is such a bad thing they they should do whatever they can to reduce them. Which includes education, promoting other preventive methods of birth control (actually conception control), and promoting adoption more.

Abortion is a disgusting thing and I agree with you. But here's the problem:

Education - There can't possibly be a person alive that doesn't realize that sex is how babies get made. And if you engage in sexual practices, you run the risk of pregnancy.

Promoting other preventive methods of birth control - We have so many choices with regard to contraception. The pill, the condom, IUD, that stick you insert under your skin, diaphragms, etc, etc, etc. EVERYone has access to birth control - they just refuse to use it. And there's nothing we can do to make them.

It's like those durhards over in Africa - we GAVE them condoms and they refused to use them because it threatened their masculinity somehow. Fine, then die of AIDS, moron.

Promoting adoption - For one thing, most women who don't want to deal with a kid CERTAINLY don't want to carry it for 9 months, then give it away. Cramps their style. And who wants to adopt the offspring of some drug addicted slut and her God-knows-what boyfriend? There are only a handful of people who are kind enough to raise a kid that has the genetic odds stacked against them.

I think it's our over-sexualized pop culture that's the problem. And I have a conspiracy theory that says our government wants it that way. Part of the Communist plan to destroy America.
