I've lived here for almost 24 years and it hasn't sucked here yet. I guess it's all in how you look at things.

I am new to the are and have been paying attention to this forum the last couple of days. Seems to me there are a lot of angry people around here. I thought I liked the area, seemingly safe, not too expensive, and close but far enough away from metropolis.

It's what you make of it. At least there's a Target within minutes of Leonardtown. I had to move to BFE Gulf Coast in MS where I have to drive 30 minutes to find the ONE Target in LA. Target=Civilization. Mississippi Wal Marts=worse than SOMD ones. :(

Alright, listen. The place isn't bad, if you go out and find things you enjoy doing. Fortunately for me, I've found alot of stuff I enjoy in the area and I like it here. The people are mostly nice and respectable as well.

I've actually considered purchasing a home here.

There are things that are left to be desired, but the same can be said for alot of other areas. I find that St Marys County has alot of parks and public areas, it's very family-oriented, and it's growing.

On the flip side, some crime is coming down this way and you have cops like smcop.

It's only the newcomers who ##### about arriving here. Then they are the ones that elect to stay here and then ##### about all the newcomers. The population here remained about constant or dipped from 1790 to 1940 and since then hasn't looked back.

Are you a police officer? I'm from a large city and crime doesn't seem to be an issue here?

Hi bluemoondevil. Sorry that some of these folks are rude to ya. They are put on the defensive because you just made a derogatory statement about their home. Its alright. I side with you on this one. This is a pretty ridiculous place to live compared to other cities. This is true. There are things to do here, you just have to really go out and find them. Some people get kinda lazy when it comes to that and its something called conveinence that you don't have here compared to other locations. Its not terrible here, but there is a lack of things to do..not too many avenues to do something extracurricular. People say movie theater and bowling alley. The way they are maintained is highly unsatisfactory. Its a shame, esp. how underdeveloped this place is. Believe me, I like countryside...but not to the point where there is nothing to do but go and milk Bessy in the morning you know? I don't hate it here as much as I used to. But you know, the one thing I have realized being here is that...geographically no matter where you are doesn't matter...its the people you are with. That is the most grand lesson you will learn from being here; I can guarantee. Ok, so that is my rant. Hope you all enjoy and let the red karma flow. :yay:

We were rude to the troll because that is what the troll wants. Don't apologize because he got his wish.

You are correct about the theater, I can't comment on the bowling alley.

The "countryside" left St. Mary's County a LONG time ago. This place is OVER developed and poorly at that.

I couldn't agree with you more on this statement.
