I've been going to the Waldorf mall almost once a week for over 4 years and I still have yet to see any of this violence or crime. I think I read about a shooting in the parking lot at 2am a couple years ago, but I don't tend to hang out at the mall at that time of the night.

As for what people are wearing there, I couldn't care less. I'm not obsessed over other peoples appearance. They could all walk around naked for all I care.

Good thing not everyone in the U.S. takes on your personality or we would have a country full of people who don't care! Thanks for your input!

Ahhh, so you're blind, which explains why you don't see the violence.

Sorry to interrupt, but something I have seen over and over has prompted me to finally ask the question - Do people consider waldorf part of southern maryland?
When ever I talked about the lack of things in somd such as shopping and such, they would get all ####y and talk about how "we have that stuff in waldorf!"
But when you begin to talk about the crime in the waldforf area, people say "That is Waldorf, not southern maryland. Waldorf is more of a DC metro area than part of somd"

So which is it? Is it, or is it not part of southern maryland?

im going with...

im going with southern maryland on that one. its part of charles county which is part of southern maryland. southern maryland is st. marys, charles, and calvert counties.

just because some of these die hard southern marylanders dont like the urbanization of southern maryland doesnt mean its still not a part of southern maryland!!!

I've been going to the mall, maybe once a week or so, since 1992 and I haven't ever seen all of this threatening behavior either. I have three teenagers and I've never had a problem with them going to the mall by themselves.

People who think that the mall is a gathering place for thugs and miscreants should take a drive up to Westview Mall outside Baltimore, or even Security Mall just north of Baltimore. The kids that are hanging out at the mall, the foodcourt in particular, aren't out looking for trouble... they're out looking for the opposite sex. If I see some 19-yr old black or hispanic tough wearing gang clothes and numerous scars and tattoos... I worry. When I see some 15-year old white suburbanite wearing temporary tattoos, spotless clothes from Foot Locker, and the only scar they have is from an appendectomy, I laugh. Are there bullies at the video game place? Probably, but you'll find these pinheads everywhere you go. I get such a kick when I hear adults whining because some "tough" talked back to them or cussed at them when they said something to them. There are lots of places where you have to worry about getting stabbed or shot for just being there or looking at someone the wrong way... now that's something to whine about.

I take no issue with the kids who wander the mall, hanging out with their friends. To them the mall is a social gathering place, and I used to hang out at Monroeville Mall back in Pittsburgh with my friends, and I'm sure our hair and dress looks as rediculous to today's youth as their's looks to us.

If there are people who feel intimidated by a bunch of kids hanging out, and at worse smoking cigarettes at the entrance to the food court, all I can tell them is stay home and do your shopping from the safety of the internet. Or, go to a mall where there is a problem with hoods and thugs and see what a real problem looks like.
