You should drive around the areas you are interested in often to see if there are some "for sale by owner" properties.

The young people that recently bought our house did it as a group. I mean it was a couple who is getting married and their friend. I thought that was weird or maybe they were a new age "couple". But I think that is what people are doing to afford non-slum housing.
:yeahthat: A lot of people have roomates to help them, too. I know of two of my friends who bought houses recently in the $250 range (not slums either) and are renting out rooms to help pay their mortgage.

A guy in my neighborhood rented out his entire house (as in, he & his family moved out) to 3 or so separate people/small families. It's a really nice house, but then again the home owner's association & the other families in the neighborhood don't really like the idea of non-single family homes. I say, in this area you do what you have to do to pay the bills.

Not rich here, but can do probably $1200-1300/month for mortgage since I already do $1130 for rent.

yes I have a realtor as I mentioned, its cool if you missed it, I got long winded, and im not gonna pound you for being human

I drive around daily (couple hours on the weekends), and just about everywhere looking for something decent thats not already under a contract. crossing my fingers now on this house. The person who has a contract on it never showed up to his (get this) last 3 settlement appointments, so im hoping he doesnt show up on this one, I find out today, and im his backup if he fails. its a great house, the picture doesnt do it justice
