St Marys Hospital

Identity theft could be curtailed if they would just let us put a "freeze" on opening any new accounts using our ID. This causes a facility to personally verify you are who you are before the account can be established. Some states (very few) allow this, Maryland is not one of them.

It's also a pain in the butt. Everyone who has one of these flags is going to have to doubly verify their identity each and every time they use any of their cards as my friends and coworkers have already found out.

Also, you can't just change your social security number. Once it's out there, it's out there and a year could easily go by before the scammers try to use it again.
I'll tell you what is a pain in the butt and that is having your identity stolen.
Good info though, I wonder how that impacts online credit card use?

This is interesting to me. I am there every 6 months or so to have x-rays and MRI's done. I had my most recent one on the 30th and I haven't' received a letter. I wonder if it contained info on people who were admitted?
At least I know now to keep a look out on our info.

My wife had to contact Capital One after her card was declined for online purchases at Christmas. She was told that there was some "out of the ordinary" online purchases being made and they put a freeze on the card. She has had two cards definitely compromised (AMEX was the other) and her CPFCU was a possible, all of these happening within the last 3-4 months.

According to the Enterprise article it could go all the way back to 1989, what a huge screw up for St. Mary's Hospital. I was treated in the ER back in April 2006 but haven't recieved a letter yet.

T (8 y/o) and I both got letters on Monday, not sure why I got one other than being the insurance holder. Hubby didn't get one:ohwell:

I got one and thought they were giving me a free screening voucher. Didn't open it yet but since you all confirm the subject of the mailing. I must wonder why i got one since I have never been to the hospital or my son(s). Not sure where the entrance is to the place is. I should go look and make sure my name is on the envelope.

Because you scared me I did.

It's the same one everyone has gotten, addressed to me. 6 paragraphs stamp-signed by the President and CEO. My labs from the HIV test I took with the Health Dept. must've went there. Only thing I can think of.

Now, I will open the rest of my mail from this week. :coffee:

Rats, my wife and I both received letters yesterday... :coffee:

My god, hasn't this kind of sh!t been big news lately with the Veterans Administration, Banks, some big stores, etc. on stolen or compromised laptops with personal information stored in it. The person or person's responsible at Saint Mary's Hospital should be fired period!!! Because they were too stupid to learn other companies hard lessons that have been plastered all over the news. :wench:
