Sticky Mousetraps

Hypothetically if there's a mouse aruond being a nussaince and you dont want to poison it because a cat might eventually decide to turn mouser and eat it... I don't want to use a trap because its just too violent. And, I really don't want to kill the thing, just relocate it. So, I found these sticky mouse traps this morning in the market while waiting on my scrapple, jelly and cheese sandwhich and bought them. I think that would be the more humane way to relocate but once they are stuck on there, how do I get them off? Anyone else deal with these kind of traps before??? I don't want to hurt the mouse, I just want to relocate him. Any suggestions on how to free the mouse?

Don't use a sticky trap.......

You can buy live traps at Lowes and take your little furry friend down the road and drop it off.

You cannot get them off the sticky trap. Often they get their face stuck or their body stuck. I think they're cruel and the mouse dies a slow death.

They have humane traps..they look like little boxes and you can release the mice. But they'll just come back.

Dems, just get the regular traps.

Yeah, its great when you go to check the trap, and notice that the mouse has bit his own feet off in order to escape.

:bawl: That's not at ALL what I want to do to it :bawl: :frown:

I'm glad I got y'alls comments before I put them down... I would have really felt like crap.

The ones I've seen use a quart jar and you just take off the lid and let them go.

Do you have a link? I can probably order one on line

Sticky-traps are pretty much the most inhumane form of death that can be passively inflicted on a mouse. You're better off using a classic snap-trap. At least that is quick, and the animal won't suffocate or die of thirst.

The glue used in these traps is not like elmer's glue or any form of epoxy. It's more like low-grade tar. And once a mouse has been stuck in that glue, there is no way that it can be removed without killing it. Just the act of prying its little body out of the glue is enough to kill it or inflict permanent trauma on it. And that's assuming that it didn't go face down in the glue which would instantly cover any breath-hole in the mouse's face, and causing asphyxiation.

If you currently have a living mouse trapped on it, you should just kill it quickly.

Sorry :ohwell:

Had to use those in HI. bugs would eat any bait in the trap and never set them off.
When we caught a mouse, he's go in a paperbag which would then be place under the wheel of the car. Drive forward a couple of feet then toss the bag in the trash, no more mouse.
