My Big-C is gone. Only made 58% in 2 weeks. :(

I wouldn't complain about a 58% gain.

I caught a blurb on CNBC today about C, BAC, and a few others currently being the most heavily shorted stocks in the market. That says a lot about what they're expecting to happen in the very near future.

Which brings up an injustice I head a politician discuss on TV this week about the market. Insiders know each day how much short interest there is in a stock, but the rest of us only find out in two week intervals, often at our own expense.

Hey Tilted,

Did you see this today?

"Despite the rally in the S&P 500 index .SPX since mid-March, short interest continues to rise, said Goldman Sachs derivative strategists in a note. The NYSE Short Interest index which examines U.S. short interest as a percent of total shares outstanding is up approximately 17 percent since the start of March while the S&P 500 has increased 19 percent. "Despite some views of a short covering rally, the rise in the Short Interest index suggests potential for bearish positioning to continue," the note said."

This potentially blows some serious holes in the hype that the rally was largely and initially based on short covering.

Paying for nothing.

"Standard & Poor's Index Services released today the year-end 2008 results for its Standard & Poor's Index Versus Active Fund Scorecard (SPIVA). Over the five year market cycle from 2004 to 2008, the SPIVA scorecard shows that the S&P 500 outperformed 71.9% of actively managed large cap funds, the S&P MidCap 400 outperformed 75.9% of mid cap funds, and the S&P SmallCap 600 outperformed 85.5% of small cap funds. These results are similar to that of the previous five year cycle from 1999 to 2003."
