Drum Point? Ever been to Patuxent Homes? Spring Valley? The Great Mills trailer parks? You do have those things. And with ten registered sex offenders in one mile, that's pretty dense. But when I look at demographics, you live in a pretty nice place. I'll note you lack any mental health service providers. Which is the key point. If you lived near one, you would know that there's a reason for the stigma.

Not all concern is nimbyism. Some is valid. There are better places to site a place to care for those in a mental health crisis than a place like Drum Point or the proposed site. What would be the benefit of placing it there other than cheap land?
Nimbyism is Nimbyism no matter how much you want to whitewash it. You sound just like a liberal trying to change the definition of what it is to soften what it is. I also lived in the Ranch Estates and White Sands. More than 50% of this country has mental health issues, they are located everywhere, not wanting the center is Nimbyism plain and simple!

Funny how everything you don't like is liberal.... :) There are better and worse locations for things. That's why we have zoning. I'm not saying nimbyism doesn't exist, but just because you don't like people deciding what gets placed in their community doesn't make it that.

Almost moved into Ranch Estates when I got here over 30 years ago. But the fact that I couldn't bring a motorcycle in turned me away pretty damn quick. Both of the communities you mention do have lower income aspects. But nothing like the ones here in St Mary's. So please, don't come off with the mean streets of Drum Point stuff. I worked eight years across the street from the counties largest addiction services location, so I know what sorts of people you have coming and going. In Millison Plaza, okay. In the middle of Patuxent Homes, not so much.

If it wasn't for "nimbyism" there would be a huge gasoline refinery in Piney Point. So there is that.....

What I don't accept is your apparent notion that any community wanting a say in what businesses and services are offered in their community is nimbyism.

Every society on the planet makes rules like these.

Well he's a dick, so.... Does PP have ANY association with a "compromised" individual? I do, and I said what I said. PP is often out of line and clearly smarter than anyone else. He is entitled to his opinion. Just like me. I TRUMP him on this issue.

I live in a community that has had numerous sex offenders, drug addicts, and section eight housing not to mention flop houses, most of the time there are no issues at all. If our community can deal with that for over 60 years, you can certainly deal with that use, Quit your fu*kin whining and deal with it! It will be not anywhere as bad as YOU think! I HATE fu*kin NIMBYS! They are selfish pieces of SH*T.
You are such a tool

Keep in mind, zoning done right is the members of a community deciding how best to not let selfish *******s use their property in ways that ruin others enjoyment of their property and lower the value of that property. You want to use your 10 acres right behind the waterfront properties to start a pig farm? Which destroys the value and ruins the enjoyment one might get from that waterfront.

Zoning is an infringement upon your property rights, which even a fool should understand. Just like the 2nd amendment gives you the right to defend yourself as you see fit. You see how well that plain language has been ignored. The courts pick and chose what they want to enforce, and the brainless and spineless go along with it.

See, I view zoning as a way to modify the most basic of rights question regarding property. Just like your right to wave your fist around ends at the tip of my nose, your rights to do with your property as you wish stop at the point you negatively effect my rights regarding my property. Including enjoyment and value.

I'll also note it's quite possible to disagree with someone without calling them names. You want to live in "Coventry"? You might find it's not the utopia you wish.

This country was started by the concept of individual freedoms, including property rights, religious rights, defense rights, speech rights, gathering rights, and several others. Slowly but surely these rights are being taken away diluted or sent to the circular file. All the while the fools in this country applaud this happening.

So basically, you are saying if something annoys you that you have the right to stop it whether it is legal or not! Yep, that my friend is liberal logic in its finest form! That is exactly what is wrong with zoning regulations.
