Stray Cats in St. Inigoes

So does my beagle...and the boxer does not like any strange animal in his territory. Luckily for the stray cats...they can climb the fence.
Sometimes they don't make it.

Well....I see it this way. My cat is indoor/outdoor. When he does go outside, he stays in our yard. But, I'm sure if the neighbor put out something that smelled appetizing enough, he'd be over there in a heartbeat.

I understand your wanting to remove the cats from your property, but if you really think the 2 cats belong to someone, why don't you do what someone said before and let them go? There is a slim chance the owner will read your thread, and be able to rescue their pets. And I know how hard it is to find a home for a cat, so more than likely they will be put down if the owner does not find out where they disappeared to in time.
Well, because if they are in her yard, the owner is not maintaining control.. the first time i come outside and find paw prints on my truck, I'm going cat hunting..

Domestic pet laws apply to both cats and dogs.. if you can't keep them in your yard, I'll be sure they won't come back into mine. I don't own a cat, i don't want a cat.. if you want a cat keep it IN your house, or it becomes vulture food.

Feral cats:
1. Trap, neuter/spay, vaccinate for rabies, ear tip and release back where you got them.
2. You remove feral cats, MORE will show up because you have a food supply for them somewhere.
3. You fed them, you created the overpopulation to begin with.
4. Contact SMWAL for help or Ally Cat Allies.
5. Dont trap pets...
6. A memeber here is missing her cat in that area!!!
7. You fix ferals, return them and they no longer reporduce, they are healthy and will in time just die away normally.

If you feed them, Fix them!

Release the cats and let them go home!!

I completely disagree with this philosophy for neighborhood ferals. This might work for barn cats, but I don't consider it humane to let wild cats fend for themselves in the general population at all.

The important thing is: do not feed feral cats. You only hurt them and the native animals they compete with.

Why is it our responsibility to take care of someone else's cats? I know I'd sooner crush their little skulls with a shovel than pay to have them fixed and then releash them so they can continue to be a nuisance

They all ready are fending for themselves well enought to reproduce!
Feral cats are surviving quite well out there..and in cities too!

They were created by people not vetting their cats and yet continue to feed outdoor cats.
You stablize a colony and it will solve a vast number of problems..
One of them being reproducing MORE kittens.

It is cheaper to vet a colony and maintain it than to have ACO come out, trap, traqnsport, house and euthanize.

Also vetted colonies are vaccinated and not a source for harboring rabies.

Somettimes some colonies must be reduced and killed, but usually due to disease.

:nono: I don't think so. Let them go to give them the opportunity to bite my son next go 'round?

Nuh Uh. Ain't gonna happen.

Oh, it was the ones that acted like they were not stray that tried to bite your son? That's different! I thought you meant it was one of the stray ones.

Then what was the purpose of starting this thread? Why would you want the owner of a cat that tried to bite your child to come rescue their cat so the cat can get back out and try and bite your son again?

So we can send you the bills then? its not cheaper, Animal control comes out and takes them for free. How is it cheaper for me to spend hundred$ to 'vet' a POS cat that could be taken away for free?

Then go do that and have fun doing it.

There are others who try to reduce by vetting and vaccinating and educating homeowners on getting their animals vetted.

You can not kill them all and can not vet them all, that is a given.
But numbers can be reduced by managing a colony to die out.
I have done that..vetted and trapped out and now no cats remain.

I hope you can get close enough to bash on with a shovel. I will offer to whitness and take photos...face it,,ferals are smarter and a lot faster than you and a shovel.
