Suspended Driver with a Toddler in His Car Brings Firetruck to a Stop in Road Rage Incident

Once in my younger dumber days I got into a road rage battle with some nut case who nearly ran me off the road. Now I just find a spot to pull over and let them pass me. If they're riding me that close, they'll not bother me by going too slowly in front of me, so why suffer the annoyance of having them unsafely riding my bumper for miles? Let them be a jerk to the next guy in front of me, instead of me. I end up much calmer and happier.

(...unless they pass me and then slow down because they're idiots or just habitually tailgate because it's easier than thinking about their own speed...)
Yes, some days I will pull over and let them go around, other days...not so much. It just irritates the hell out of me, I'm doing well over the posted speed limit and I have every right to be on that road...just like them. Tailgating is equivalent to bullying... using vehicles!

MARYLAND STATE POLICE CITE MAN IN SUSPECTED ROAD RAGE CASE IN ST. MARY'S COUNTY

Maryland State Police have cited a man with multiple traffic violations in connection with a reported road rage incident last month in St. Mary's County.

The suspect, Christopher Tyler, 30, of Lexington Park, Maryland, was cited for driving a motor vehicle without a valid license, driving a motor vehicle with a suspended out-of-state license, negligent driving, changing lanes when unsafe, failure to use a turn signal prior to a turn and stopping a vehicle in an intersection.

According to a preliminary investigation, at about 2:25 p.m. on April 23, Tyler, who was driving a Hyundai Sonata on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, Maryland, pulled alongside a fire engine from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and started yelling at the fire crew for an unknown reason.

Tyler then pulled in front of the fire truck and came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. This forced the fire truck to stop in the road as well. After a brief altercation, Tyler drove away. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

The Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack is continuing to investigate this incident.

pulled alongside a fire engine from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and started yelling at the fire crew for an unknown reason.

I do recall someone here saying that a close examination of the video reveals that Mr. Tyler was yelling about them driving 50 MPH in a 40 MPH speed zone.

If you listen really closely, you can hear the truck window rolled down, the right-seat firefighter asking what's wrong, and the guy yelling at them; I've done some noise reduction on it and he asked "Why are y'all allowed to break the speed limit?" The firefighter replies "Break the speed limit?" and he says something like "Y'all were just doin' fifty" at which point the audio goes silent (conveniently enough for the fire engine crew).

I find this whole missing 7 seconds of audio at a critical juncture in the scenario simply FASCINATING. In fact, were it not for it, I would never have given this story another glance. Thanks to GoldenHawk's fine catch, I did a little more forensic analysis on the audio over here:

The only 2 missing answers are:

1) What exactly was said in the missing 7 seconds

2) Why is the audio missing from the YouTube post by SMNEWSNET? Was it a glitch on the dash cam or did someone edit the video and intentionally clip the audio, and if so, who? Let me be clear, I am not accusing the VFD at this point because this was not posted by them, it could very easily have been done by anyone in the chain of custody.

What do I think happened? Little doubt in my mind that the firemen said something very nasty to the guy (or something he interpreted that way) during the missing audio section that sent him into a rage. Does that justify what he did? NOPE, absolutely not!

What it does tell me is that this is a shitty way for our public officials to conduct business, especially when the State Police release a statement saying the guy was yelling "for an unknown reason."

Well, SMNEWSNET just confirmed to me that they received that dashcam with the 7 seconds of audio missing.

So, was it equipment failure or did the VFD edit out something they didn't want everyone else to hear?

As I said earlier- BDVFD does not have the best reputation, even with firefighters from other departments...
