Does anyone have a recipe for that broccoli casserole w/ritz cracker topping. I've made it in the past and I could have sworn that it called for both cream cheese and sour cream but I'm not finding that particular recipe. I don't like cream of anything soup in it and I can't stand mayonnaise, seemed to me it was both the sour cream and cream cheese that made it taste so good. Googled every ingredient I could remember, doesn't seem to be on the internet anymore, unless I'm wrong about the sour cream and cream cheese.
This doesn't have the cream cheese, but it's the one I've used since the late 80's...

When the mushroom soup, mayo and cheese blend together in the oven, it is very creamy.

Thanks, seen that one. Unfortunately, I can't stand mayonnaise or cream of anything soup.

fresh ham, country ham and stuffed ham. Oysters on the half fixed several different ways. Couple turkey breasts in the oven (missus likes those a lot better than fussing with a whole turkey). Green bean casserole. Potato rolls. And other stuff my sisters are bringing...probably mashed taters and a sweet tater casserole (the one with melted marshmallows and brown sugar sauce).

I understand. Surprisingly enough you can't taste it when it's cooked
I don't know what the dealio is anymore. I can eat a half a sandwich if it has mayo on it but any more than that I get the dry heaves and cream of anything. I can eat cream of somethings if I made it but the soup stuff...yuck. Didn't used to be like that, this is kinda new. Can't eat fast food anymore either, fish sandwiches, hamburgers, grosses me out.

Lucky Bee found the right recipe for me, God bless her heart. Sour cream AND cream cheese. You would think that would make me nauseated but I handle that.

Happy Thanksgiving to you BTW. Any big plans?

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I'm cooking for Thing 1 and I - all the regular sides he likes: my broccoli casserole, scratch made cranberry sauce, Stove top stuffing, because --2 people, and that's freaking easier, and some kind of dessert. He likes ALL desserts, so not sure which type, yet. I will grill steaks most likely, because we like steak and I don't grill them often. I cook and grill chicken ALLLL the time, so having a big turkey is not our thing and I do ham at Christmas.

Thing2 is working his FF job, but will probably stop by in the evening or next day for a care pkg. He has his own house now, AND he is a really good cook!! But hey- nothing's as good as mom's holiday care pkgs.

I have a fresh turkey ordered to be ready for pickup on the 22nd. Last year was the first year I did a fresh turkey, and was very good. This year I have to cook it and transport it to my in-laws in Fredericksburg. What is the best way to transport a cooked bird? Cook it early and then refrigerate, and take it in a cooler? Or cook it on Thursday morning, and try to keep it warm? I don't want it dried out, but I don't want to give the Mother-in-law food poisoning.
I usually put this in a deep casserole dish, so most is super moist and some is crispy. I often use bags of Pepperidge Farms crumbs and cubes that are already seasoned, so leave the sage out. Sauteeing the onion and celery in butter or margarine instead of the sausage grease also ups the moisture.

Sausage dressing is what I usually make using garlic bread topped with cheese. So GOOD!!!!

Wife and I found a sausage stuffing recipe in a Williams Sonoma magazine/catalog back in the late 2000's. I remember it being delicious, but we never had it again.

Reminds me of my Grandma's stuffing story. She made a sausage stuffing every year, and fewer and fewer people would eat it because it gave everyone the trots. Turns out she never browned the sausage, just threw it in the stuffing.
Speaking of sausage, does anyone have BS Gals sausage and cheese bread recipe?

I've never heard of the bread before, but used to make these in the 80's all the time!

No real plans, dinner or otherwise, for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. Too much change this past year to really get excited about either. Grandson will be going to South Carolina with his mother to visit with her family. I'm sure my fiance will throw something together last minute, like has become the norm.

Great app...

We had an XO that made this for our turkey burn feast and it was always a huge hit!

I'm responsible for the cranberry relish every year. Besides cranberries and oranges, I add some apples.
