"That's ghey!"

Anyone seen the new anti 'that's ghey!" PSA?

:lmao:

'Ghey' means silly, absurd.

'Gay' means homosexual.

It's two very different things and no one, NO ONE thinks it means 'gay' when we are saying 'ghey' any more than anyone thinks 'kewl' means 'chilly' or 'bad ass' means 'uncontrollable donkey'.

For instance. Consider the case of two gay men trying to choose a survival rifle together;

"Should we get a .308 or 30-06?"

".308 is ghey. It's not the round 30-06 is."

"You're ghey. .308 is nearly exactly the same performance, more compact and should be more widely available in the EOTWAWKI because it is a mil round."

"Your momma is ghey. If we're talking a long range rifle, then 30-06 is LONG range compared to .308. It's not like it's a chain gun where we're gonna need 10's of thousands of rounds."

"Look. You're just being ghey. .308 even sounds kewler. 30-06, what the hell is an '06? Ought six? It's ghey, that's what it is."

"Your ghey ass. '06 is bad ass. Every wanna be zombie slayer is into .308. That right there makes is ghey and NOT kewl. Besides, no one has .308 right now. At least we can stock up on '06 and practice so we can at least hit what we're aiming at instead of worrying about how ghey you're gonna look when your dumb ass can't even hit a donkey at 500 yards with your bad ass, kewl guy .308 you don't have any rounds for. F@g."

"What did you call me!???"

"Enough. Let's go in. It's getting chilly."

"Kewl..."

The Orwellian nature and instincts of the Politically Correct never cease fascinating me.

The origin of "ghey" is from immature people saying "that's gay." The modified spelling is a weak attempt to disassociate it from it's origin.

Is using the "ah" instead of "er" at the end of the N word less offensive? Could you pretend that it means "lazy person" and completely forget the origin of the word?

I'm not saying that the words shouldn't be used. As long as it's part of "TGBT" why shouldn't it be used? Same with "queer." If you don't want to be called queer, don't chant it in parades.

So, what are you, an etymological archeologist? A, you're wrong. As the computer came into common usage, 'ghey' simply came to be one more slang word like 'cool', 'kewl'. It was specifically spelled 'ghey' to indicate 'silly' or 'absurd' so as to DIFFERENTIATE from 'homosexual'.

And B, there is no B. You're just wrong.

Larry, is this your way of coming out of the closet and admitting you're ghey?

I am frequently ghey. I am author of some of the lamest (ghey-est) silliest jokes, ever. I play 'nanny, nanny, boo boo' on my guitar whenever anyone is trying to have a serious conversation with me.

Hi, my name is Larry and I'm ghey. Sometimes.

Is the root of "kewl" cool? So the meaning of the word may have changed, but they both grew from the same word, correct? Does changing the spelling a little bit really change the origin of the word?

Ghey came from the stereotype of gays acting in certain ways. Maybe the meaning has morphed, but the origin of the word is the same.

I realize it's a long time ago, but didn't people say "that's so gay!" when you were in high school? It went from something said about the flamboyant kid in purple pants to being used to belittle anything they didn't like. The "ghey" spelling was a way to get around word filters, like saying "that's bullchit."

I can see why people who are offended by the stereotype would be offended with the word ghey. I think they are wrong to be offended, but along with freedom of speech comes freedom to be offended.

'kewl', like 'ghey' is a product of our keyboard age. We never said 'gay' in High School. We said 'queer' and '###' and it was meant derisively but, it was not meant as 'homosexual'. Much like calling someone a 'c0cksucker' wasn't meant to suggest anything wrong with getting a blow job, just meant to call call names and such.

I can see why people who seek to be offended...are offended.

Mrs. Burch, 5th grade, black lady, stern, tough, when Bobby Gavigan called her a ' dumb n1gger' in her response to her, again, taking exception to his exceptionally poor behavior and got sent to the principals office, again, reminded us, as a class, of sticks and stones and then went on to explain that 'n1gger' was a valid term and it meant 'willfully ignorant' and had nothing to do with skin color, making it perfectly clear that cracker redneck trailer trash Bobby was the real n1gger.

Further more, when I got my glasses in second grade, my best friend said "You look like a Pollack!" and laughed, I got my feeling hurt and went crying to my mom. I didn't even know what it meant. She talked of sticks and stones and told me that I'd probably do better with a little thicker skin or, words to that affect.

We are a terrible cry baby nation. We seek to take offense and, by golly, we're gonna find it.
