The 54th Daytona 500

Keep Calm and Don't Care!
I say that every time it rains on a day when I need it to be sunny. Doesn't look good for the race tomorrow, they are calling for rain through Wednesday.

It'll be a Monday night or Tuesday race unless the front stalls (and someone was saying computer models indicate it might).

Tony Stewart for the win
Kyle Busch
D Earnhardt Jr
Jimmy Johnson
Danica Patrick Go Daddy:yahoo:

If anyone wants to change their picks, they have until Noon. OHG, if I was you, which I'm not, I'd take advantage. Danica will win the race to the motor home lot.

so did you guys sit around and watch it rain all afternoon yesterday?

Heck no - Thing1 was gonna watch it, not I. I finished making my meatloaf for dinner and then took a nice little nap.

Kinda. I had the TV turned up loud enough so I didn't have to actually watch it. I kept checking weather.com hoping something positive would come of the weather. It might clear today though.

Green flag postponed again. 7:00 start.

Oh! That’s actually good because then I can watch it! Noon doesn't work for me :coffee:

:yeahthat:
We can have a leisurely dinner and not have to worry about missing anything.
:yay:

Working ! Have to DVR and hope I don't hear any feedback on race until after I get home at midnite . IF THEY EVEN GO GREEN FLAG . Haven't missed a Daytona 500 LIVE since 2001 and that was only one since early 70's

Winner so far - the rain.....
The rain has moved off with no more in sight. I was amazed the sent out the jet dryers yesterday and 10 min. later it was pouring. I could see on my laptop 900 miles away the radar showing the storms. Big dummys.

I think they should race in the rain. Fans would win.

But drivers and cars would probably die....

Ever been to a 500? I've been to two, and that's enough for me and mine.

A lot of fun, but always an incredibly long, tiring day.

From Tampa, it is about 130 miles to the Daytona Speedway. The first 128 miles take about 2 hours or so. The last two miles takes you two hours or so......and then the parking lot and walk to the track......

Then you hope it doesn't rain. We had great weather for both of our appearances.

Getting home is quicker, as long as you wait about 90 minutes after the race before you even start your car engine.

But the deafening, perfectly tuned-ringing roar of the cars and the wind blowing your hats off as you walk along the fance, four feet from, and window level of, the race cars blasting past you at 200 mph......

Priceless.

We had the same system, it moved out about 3 hours ago, sunny and 77 here now. Glad it's going to be at 7 so that people who had to work today can watch.

The dryers yesterday were a waste, that rain wasn't about to let up, it rained all night long and was still pouring when I got up this morning.

Looks like Phoenix might be 1ST race of season .

It is raining again at Daytona, and a good chance of rain in the 6pm hour.

Maybe I will watch it LIVE  or maybe Phoenix will be season opener
