The Atheist and the bear

An atheist was walking through the woods."What majestictrees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" , he said to himself. As he kept walking alongside a river, he heard a rustling noise from the bushes behind him. He turned to look and saw a 7 ft. grizzly running toward him. He ran as fast as he could up the path, looked over his shoulder, and saw the bear was closing in on him. As the bear got even closer, the man tripped and fell to the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw the bear was already on top of him, reaching out to strike him with his claws. At that instant the man cried out,"Oh my God!" Time stood still. The bear froze and the forest went silent. Then a bright light shone upon the man. A great voice came from the sky saying "You deny My existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist, and even credit creation to cosmic accident. Do you expect Me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?" The atheist looked directly into the light and said," It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as a christian now, but perhaps You could make the bear a christian." "Very well", said the voice. The light went out as the sounds of the forest resumed. The bear then dropped his paws and brought them together, bowed his head, and spoke:" Lord, bless this food for which I am about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ, our Lord. Amen."=============

 I guess it does show the hypocrisy of that foolish prayer.

Telling God to "bless this food" as if that means He does as we command and Christians do not themself ask if the food is "blessed" or not, just as that bear does not.

Christians pretend the Bible lets them anything by saying their "blessing" over the food even though the food is vile or taken by violence or sinful indeed.

God does not "bless the food" just because a Christian demands it in prayer.

let's play a word game.. replace Athiest with Jew.. or Muslim.. or Buddhist..

Lot of hate Christians harbor for people not like them.

JPC,

I gathered the bear was already a Christian and got what it asked for through prayer.

Just curious, are you related to Charles? 40ish?

:coffee: It most certainly is far from being a request.

Like no one ever waits for an answer, and God is not striking down food tables with lightning rods.

If it were a true request then people would check for an answer of approval instead of digging in.

It is very much a demand for God to bless their food because they are going to eat it anyway.

Maybe its just a way to give thanks, for just one more of so many provisions and express graditude!

:coffee: That is correct if one is saying / praying "thanks for food" and not "bless the food" but I would still say even thanking for the food one might ask if it actually came provided by God or from another source.

Like as said before - if it be vile or taken by violence or sinful in other ways, because if it is unwholesome food then giving "thanks to God" would not be appropriate.

What other source? You claim to believe in God, yet you think there could be another source?
:coffee: Sure, it could be the Devil's food, or food offered to idols, or stolen food, or food bought with stolen money, or unclean meats, or food obtained through violence, or even addictive or intoxicating foods.

Foods that come from the evil actions of people.

Claiming that any food on a Christian table is then blessed of God (by prayer) is nonsense.

It might happen on a few occassions - but normally even a bear will not eat people because the bear knows better. :otter:

He only believes in the God he created:
There are large sections of the Bible that are untrue and some complete books of the Bible are fakes.

Christianity has been trying to hide the info since its beginning and it is hard to find the info now, but it can be found.

I find it incredibly strengthening to see that the fake parts reveal the truth more precisely.

The truths and message in the Bible can make anyone powerful even to move mountains and so it is hidden from the infidels.

If something doesn't fit his perception, he doesn't change his perception, he merely rejects that part of the Bible.

By the way, Jimmy, this thread was just a joke. That's all Post #1 is.

I'm pretty sure that Genesis says God created everything. Where do you get your information?

Most people I know who pray before eating humbly ask God to bless the food in Jesus' name. That is not presumptuous or "nonsense."
