I brought a dozen home this evening.

I couldn't commit to one flavor so I cut tiny pieces from a few, and then had a bite from the different flavors my son & 2A picked. :lmao:

They're not bad - donuts just don't excite me. I'm done for the year.

My husband and son went Sunday morning and brought back 1/2 doz. I had a bite of one .. can't remember the name. It was so so. I find them ... a bit undercooked ... if that's the way to describe them. Considering I've been on a diet for 6 weeks now and it didn't excite me says a lot! I think I'll stick w/ Dunkin Donuts!

Don't they have one in OC? I remember riding by but never knowing what it was. Aren't they expensive too? I thought I read somewhere over $1.00 a donut. Needless to say it was hard for me to resist. My friend and I are on a weight loss competition and I did not want to go eat a box and have a spare donut around my waist!

The original started here in OC. Sis and I stopped there to get breakfast one morning. When I found out they only had "cake" donuts, I passed. I like the yeast raised ones...period. We went to General's Kitchen instead, and I got eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. :yum:

I laughed at the name of the place 20 years ago, but it looks like I should have invested. :ohwell: Yet another opportunity to get rich lost.

I confess... I am not a donut expert, whatsoever.... What is the difference between the cake and yeast risen? If I am going to eat a donut or muffin, I'll go to SFW, early in the morning/day  What kind of donuts are they? Or do they carry both?

TIA

Is Generals Kitchen open in the Winter?

General's Kitchen is closed part of winter, not sure when they open in spring. Kathy's Olympia Kitchen next door to Pickle's Pub has the best breakfast in OC though. Best omelettes anywhere and pan fried home fries, not pre-cut or deep fried. Greek omelet with bacon, mushrooms and feta cheese is the greatest. I'm getting one this weekend.

Fractured Prune, there's a story behind the name that is posted in the OC locations, not sure if the Lusby one has it...something about a lady named Prunella.

I just called the BeachMark Motel where the restaurant is located. She told me that General's Kitchen is open year round.

They also have an awesome tuna salad sandwich. I had mine grilled with cheese.

Cake donuts are just as they are named, a round piece of cake (hostess donuts). Risen donuts are like the Krispy Cream style. I like the risen style. I was told Fractured Prune only makes cake donuts.

Cake donuts are like a lead bullet. The risen one's are light as air, and you can consume 4 to the one cake. How joyous is that?

Krispy Kreme's are my fave.

Giant does their own, (not far off from Krispy Kreme) and after 4 seconds on high in the microwave...I will consume a dozen.

Why are my jeans baggy? Dammit!

When I was a kid Wall's Bakery in Waldorf made the BEST donuts. They had a bakery in Prince Frederick and would bring fresh donuts over every morning.
I miss those!!!!

Yeah, it isn't too good. Big disappointment. Your description is exactly correct.

I stopped in there last week. It was a bit confusing...I'm used to seeing racks and racks of them ready to go. Was kinda strange getting a "made to order" donut.

But when they found out I was a first time customer, they gave me whatever kind of donut I wanted for free. I ordered a "bluebery Hill". I prolly shouldn't have tried eating it in the car. They're a bit messy for that, but I managed.

I was impressed. I thought the donut was really good, as was the coffee and it was fairly fast, considering it is a "Made to order" and there were several folks in there ordering by the dozen.

I give it :yay: :yay:. I'll be back there for sure.

Oh yea, I dig the music they were playing too. Sirius Radio, The Pulse, if I remember right.

I told her it would be worse to sit there and try to eat donuts when all you can smell is sweaty fat chicks. She hit me. Do you think I should press charges?

:lmao: :killingme

Don't press charges. You had that one coming.

But well worth it, I expect.

I encourage you to come back and try us again. The first weekend was very busy and we had a LOT of new people working who were still learning the process. Most of the kinks have been worked out now and the donuts are more delicious than ever.

If you have never had a "made-to-order" donut it may be a strange concept not to see racks of donuts, but once you have a hot Fractured Prune donut, you'll see why we love them and so do SO many others.

All of our donuts are yellow cake donuts, dipped in whatever glaze you want and then you can even add a topping or two. The visitors are correct - no yeast raised donuts, everyone has their own gig and ours is "HOT hand-dipped yellow-cake donuts, Always, you create 'em, we make 'em".
Although we are known for the yummy donuts, we also have bagels and Seattles Best Coffee, an extension and product of Starbucks.

The atmosphere is intended to be family friendly and the staff we have right now is fabulous. The hours were extended and are currently Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

My husband is who runs the store right now and says on an average morning, he can get your order done in less than 2.5 minutes.

NOTE: We are still waiting for the credit card/debit machines...MUCH apologies. We are of the "not-carrying-cash" generation so we know how frustrating "cash only" can be, but I PROMISE we're working on it!

I hope you all will come and visit soon! :howdy:
