Our intent is, as far as I can tell, to stop the Islamic Fascists over there - before it gets a foothold on our shores.

Excuse me, upon rethinking that statement, I believe there ARE sleeper cells here already; but the CIA, FBI and other law enforcement agencies are keeping them at bay, watching them so intently, that they dare not make an overt move.

I think the Bush administration's intent is, that if we can achieve a modicum of democracy over in the Middle East, it would be an example to the rest of the neighboring states. That they do not necessarily have to follow in the footsteps of their fathers; there is a better way to get along with others.

I, myself, still don't think Iraq was a threat to us and I think it's made other threats stronger. I'll support a war with Iraq if we proved we were strong against all dictatorships and murderous regimes and had the testicles to do something in Sudan.

EDIT - Most of you consider Iraq a threat but you cannot convince me. When I see the WMD, I'll believe it. I'm for toppling any dictatorship, but not when it makes our country weaker.

Forestal evidently doesn't think Iran is a risk. Nor Syria, Korea, Yemen, Saudi Arabia.

As much as I respect your position on nearly everything, and I realize Forestal is quite ignorant on many things especially when it comes to our military, I find it disturbing to wish harm on anyone just because they have an opinion, no matter how deeply rooted in ignorance it is.

Let me point out again that I did not say I wished to be the one doing the harm. I did say I would be happy if he/she/it was banned or someone did he/she/it bodily harm, which in retrospect is only partially true. I would be happy if he/she/it were banned.

I am more disturbed by the threats of violence towards Forestal...or anybody on here. When even the most ..ahem..."Christian" of you are advocating a murder based on a political discussion on an internet forum...those are the religious extremists that need to be tagged.

So it is OK to threaten violence to anyone who doesn't agree with what you say? To hope for and encourage bodily harm to anyone who is not in step with your beliefs? Just as long as you you publish a partial retraction at some point to assuage some deep-felt guilt you might have? You want to claim to be a Christian, do it 7 days a week, not just Sundays, or stop wearing you religion like a mantle for all to see in your pride.

Obviously, they have not heard about a poll taken recently, where something like at least 85 - 90% of journalists and news personnel voted democratic in the last election cycle.

Not to make too big a deal of it, but you don't think their party affiliation would affect the news they produce, or it's slant?
