The defense team seem extremely incompetent. You typically never allow your client to testify unless there is specific need to do so. Then, if you do allow him to testify, you don't sit there on your hands while the prosecutor eats him alive as one missed objection after another passes by.
From what I have been hearing over the past few months, ever since Kyle came into millions of dollars in contributions for his defense, allegations are out there that he has been surrounded by a cadre of vultures, beginning with Lin Wood and the other guy who was being sued by everyone, including his partners, and owed money to many people.
Attorney Robert Barnes, who is a lawyer who handles many high profile cases, like Alex Jones and Wesley Snipes, says he put together a dream team of lawyers and legal consultants at no cost to Kyle's family. Barnes had jury selection experts analyze the potential jury pool using the databases at their disposal (the intelligence databases that have profiles of each and every one of us based on public data and everything we do online). Data like, are they gun owners and what are their political leanings. Richards and his crew completely ignored their advice and Barnes claims there are now jurors seated who have a good likelihood of voting against Kyle.
Last I heard from Barnes a few days ago, Richards had completely put Barnes and his team out to pasture. Barnes now speculates that Richards et al only allowed Barnes to become affiliated with the defense to use his good name for fundraising.
Barnes also said that there is a cocoon wrapped around Kyle and his mother so that no one can get near them to let them know that they are being railroaded by their attorneys who won't let the A Team take, or even share, the field.
I believe Barnes, but of course, it constitutes his personal and professional opinion.
