My brother applied but with 600 applicants that's going to be a tough job to land. Can't wait to sit at the bar!

I went and applied to. I can tell you that they didn't have 600 applicants there.

To the above poster(s):

There were over 600 applicants. The lead chef conducting the interviews said so, and many of the application forms had numbers on them, at least on the second day of the job fair. I was number 441.

If I recall correctly he said they had about 300 the first day, so the total is probably more on the 700 side.

Best of luck :buddies:

Ruddy Duck

I stopped by the Hilton Garden Inn to make a reservation on the first day of the job fair. The hotel had people directing the applicants and there were people lined up and people coming in groups to apply. The parking lot was full of cars.

Jennifer at the hotel stated the RD would be open around May 25. I think they are striving for a Memorial Day Grand Opening.

Wonder if us VIDs get invites to a "soft opening" prior to the grand opening? I know this duck can keep his bill sealed:)

We will have two soft opening for family and friends. After that we will have a fund raising event and then we will sneek open, so we do it slowly and quietly...
It will probably be end of May... We will have a better date in two weeks. All the VID's will be the first ones to know, we have 1800 so far.

See you soon!!!

You could've made a killing this past w/e with ppl opting to go to the Ruddy Duck instead of the Tiki, but I guess there's always next year.

Looking forward too it. I've been keeping tabs on the construction twice a day every day for what seems like 2 years now!

Ruddy Duck followup?

I've been hearing now that the opening is scheduled for the "end of May". Does this translate into "hopefully the end of May" or will the Ruddy Duck definitely be open by June 1?

May 29?

Yesterday I was told by someone at the Hilton Garden Inn (who should know), that the opening date is May 29. She told me they had hoped to open it over Memorial Day weekend, but moved back to May 29. ....

Just curious. Why would the person at Hilton Garden Inn KNOW?

I'm sure it is because they will have some kind of partnership and every guest who comes in there will ask about it. It is good business for the Ruddy Duck to be communicating with the Hilton.

Yeah, okay.
Just curious. Why would the person at Hilton Garden Inn KNOW?

Because the Ruddy Duck is the associated with the Hilton. It is my understanding that the Ruddy Duck building is owned by the same people that own the Hilton. The guy below named Carlos and someone else are actually running it.

Here Carlos!!!

Yes, the Hotel and Ruddy are part of the same family.
I built the Hilton Garden and have a great relationship with Allen the GM and his wonderful staff!!! We are there every day interviewing and prepping the food that will make Rudy Duck one of a kind.
We are going through a lot right now, but if we can get everything straight by Friday we are starting to brew on Saturday. YES!!! at last
We will start with traditional English pale ale, with English and German grains and a great British yeast strain. Then we'll brew a Kolsch style or golden ale, clear crisp very refreshing light gold ale with a lot of character. Third batch will be Belgium style wheat, imported yeast and the best wheat beer Jonathan, the brewer, has ever made. From there "You name it" we can make any style of beer you want.
The food... Wait to taste Jay's and Marlin's creations and for Sunday brunch an authentic Southern cuisine with grits, eggs, shrimp, bacon stuffed jalapenos, breads, and lots more.

We are getting ready to open in about three weeks. We will let you know the exact date very soon.
Me and my partner Michael Kelley are looking forward to meeting you very soon.

Carlos :buddies:

ARE YOU RUDDY!!!
