I just got a call from a friend... She said she is on 235, North of Hyperspace and police made her turn around because the road is closed. The police said that the TJ bridge was open and suggested she go that way. Her destination is Mechanicsville.
She was going to go over to Rt 5 and go up from there. but is afraid, since the police told her to go over the bridge, the accident may be too far north to get around.

Anyone know what's going on there?
We passed the remains of that accident and it was horrid. Turned out to be a coworkers mother too:ohwell:

Then we got up to 235 and 5 and there was another accident up there. After being on the road for an hour and having gone from Leonardtown to Mechanicsville we turned around and went home.

i got turned around by Jolly Gents, headed south on 235, turned right -(left road is sotterly road?)toward Leonardtown, passed the barricks and went north on 5 past Loveville Elementary school, turned down the first side road on the right after the post office/trailer by a farm.(247?)

I saw a new development across from jolly gents.. should i have gone through there?

That's Friendship School road (across from Golly Gents) It would have taken you back down to the lower end of Loveville rd which ends at 5.

We cut thru Clover hill, McIntosh and then Jones Rd to Friendship School Rd and was able to get back on 235 at Jolly Gents. It took another 10 minutes from there to get to Oakville Rd.

When you got turned around at Jolly Gents you should of gone in Friendship School Rd. across from Jolly Gents and then go about 2 to 3 miles and make a right on Bishop Road proceed about 2-3 miles and you would have come out on Loveville Rd Rt 247. Much shorter route.

Was caught in that a bit. around 5:10pm got to Rt 4 at the Solomons Firehouse where I noticed the back up. Got in the right lane and pretty much eased up without much ado about nothing to the bridge. Got to 235 around 5:38pm and took Chancellor's Run towards home which was backed up at the flood area wasn't sure what happened as it was probably backed up to the GMR light. But I take it this was due to people trying to make it up towards Hughesville since 235 was a no-go.

Luckily I was able to turn up Pegg Rd and go to the WaWa, my gas light was on and while I am sure there was 2-3 more gallons in there (27mpg) I read in the manual (my reading material) that it could mess up my catalytic converter or cause my engine to misfire should I drive with that light on. :bigwhoop:

On a related note, why do people call it "Cadillac" converter. When I would be getting an oil change I would hear people crying or distraught about this part they needed for their car and I was so glad I didn't drive a Cadillac. Now I know it was not for Cadillac vehicles. :bigwhoop:

Because they're ignorant. It's a catalytic converter, provides a cataylst (platinum) for the conversion of the bad stuff in your exhaust to good stuff.

Where the heck were the local radio station traffic reports? Leaving the office and trying to figure out the traffic situation (5:45 to 6:00). Nothing to be heard. Of course the most up to date info was right here on the forums :huggy:

I propose traffic cameras with live internet feeds. Locations would include both sides of the bridge, the intersection of Rts 235/4 and the intersections at First Colony/235.
Then we'll need internet access in the car.. on our cellphones maybe!!

The idea was some pre-planning while you're still at work, or somewhere with an internet pipe.

They need to get some serious funding and get another bridge. If the county and base knew that this place had potential of growth why not fund to have another BIG bridge with 8 lanes, 4 for North bound and 4 south bound.
