Tired of buying bad food

I'm tired of buying bad food. In the past month I have bought raspberries and blueberries that had mold on the bottom, pork chops that tasted like they were a year old and now a frozen entree (which I rarely buy) and the turkey was green around the edges. How old is this stuff when it's at the store? Disgusted and tired of throwing out food and money.

If you bought all this stuff at the same store, you should try shopping at a different store, and send an email to the HQ of this store, if they are different stores, send emails to each store. Chances are, you aren't the only one having a problem if it's happening this often.

I thought you could return stuff like that? Where are you shopping?

You can, but the meat and frozen entree were purchased about 2 or 3 weeks ago and were in the freezer. I don't have the receipt from that long ago & I'm not taking cooked food back to the store to complain :dead:. The store did give me a refund for the dog food that had mold on it. I will write to HQ. I know this can happen sometimes but it's been so frequent lately.
Yes, it's FL. I've shopped at this store off and on for years and it wasn't like this.

nobody really

I need a nap
i knew someone who would always call the "comments? Call 800-whatever" and she always got coupons for free products.

not sure what she would say. she told me she was always drunk when she did it.

maybe you can call the number on the back of the product.

My first job was in a grocery store, I was amazed at the pallet of ice cream sitting out for hours before it was put into the huge freezer (which would freeze anything rock solid) or stocked on the shelves.

It was my job to collect the meat whose date had passed so they could re-date it and to wash the slimy fish off so we could get another day or two out of it before we had to throw it out. According to them it was ok to wash the fish as long as only water was used.

I was hoping when they recently scaled back their produce section they would be able to keep a fresher supply but no such luck.

Someone told me who worked at FL that the meat was frozen when it came to them. They package it up and put it out. So this tells me the meat has been frozen, defrosts in the refrigerated meat section and then customers are refreezing when they get it home. No wonder the stuff has no taste. Probably the frozen entree I had was a year old, defrosted in shipping and refrozen at the store. The ground beef from McKay's always had a weird smell, so I stopped buying that. I'd turn into a vegetarian if the produce wasn't moldy and tasteless. I give up. :jameo: I will say I did get perfect peaches from McKay's last week. I get most of my produce from the Mennonites in Loveville, but that will be ending soon.

I used to work at the commissary. Frozen food would sometimes sit in the warehouse for an hour or two before being put away. Always wary about buying frozen entrees after seeing this. I also purchased some tuna steaks from McKays. Didnt notice till I got it home that it was "previously frozen", hubby stuck it in our freezer, now I'm afraid to cook it because I'm not sure its safe. My mother always said you cant thaw and then refreeze something. I just hate the thought of throwing them out, they were $ 14.99 a lb for goodness sake.:cds:

Yes, it's irritating for sure. I've tried a few times recently to buy a watermelon and when I cut it open, it was disgusting. Strawberries that looked fine in the store have been moldy a day or two later. Seems to be worse this summer than ever.

During the spring and summer months I but most of my produce from the farm stands.

In My Opinion
That draws a very funny picture there......

RR at the farmstand.... "'Scuze me while I back this up!"

Not really, it saves now if you don't have to use the stores bags to carry out your purchases.
We all carry things differently.

That is just a fallacy, grocery stores often buy stuff when their supplier has it cheaper, freeze it and then thaw it out and put it on the shelf as fresh. The store that I worked at did that all the time with boneless skinless chicken breast.

I don't buy meat at McKays, the whole section does not smell right.

The ground beef comes in big tubes that is coarsely ground, the store grinds it again to get it more like what people are use to buying for ground beef. The premade hamburger patties are just a slice off one of those tubes with the bandsaw, ever notice they have a rougher texture than the regular ground beef?
