Tonight on my ride home I met the greatest driver in SOMD.

Get off your high horse... that is because this area has so many accesses only available from the left lane.
I don't believe that. I've seen to many folks go by multiple left turns without turning. I think it's because they're to lazy to change lanes or they think they have a right to be in any lane theywant.

Nothing says I have to hold a door open for a person or say thank you when I receive something..Its called courtesy, if you're not making a left and you have a line of cars behind you, move your azz to the right lane.

Uh...they do. Unless you can show me a law that states that certain lanes are for certain speeds, slower traffic to the right is a courtesy, not a requirement.

I used to CARPOOL with someone who did that - she would go 55 from Prince Frederick to LUSBY in the left lane "because she was going to make a left turn". I'd say why don't you pull over and let the *12* cars behind you pass?" "But I have to turn!!" "Well then, speed up" "But I don't want to speed".

This was creating a needless traffic hazard because she didn't want to be inconvenienced 17 miles down the road.

Oh I agree with you for the most part especially in free-flowing traffic, but in the LP, California, Hollywood area there is a ton of traffic using left exits and because of all the lights and bunched up traffic, it is more dangerous to hang in the right and then try to zoom into a pretty much non-existent gap. The majority of accidents along 235 are caused by this very practice.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. When you're discourteous by blocking other drivers, you're abusing the privilege. Get out on on 70 in western MD and you'll see SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT signs.

This is exactly right. :yay: When I'm in heavy traffic and will need to be in a certain lane within two miles, I'll get over as soon as I can because it's entirely possible that I won't have another opportunity before my exit.

Now, if motorists would pay attention to other drivers and their turn signals, then slow to let them in, that would be a different story. But so many people (Aps) are scared they'll let that person in, only to be forced to go 3 mph slower. Then there's the indignity of actually having someone in front of you and not being the leader of the pack.....

Plus most drivers are plain oblivious.

Bingo! If you don't get over early there is a very good chance you'll get escorted right past your desired exit by tailgaters who wouldn't dream of letting someone in front of them. Like someone said people, courtesy.

If you look at the replies to this thread, you'll see why there are so many problems out on the road :yay:

Everyone feels that they have and are the solution and continue to drive as such.

Good on ya! :coffee:

I had some assclown on my rear-deck for about 10 miles on 301. I was doing EXACTLY 55 and was not going to go above.
You rode the left lane for ten miles, but he's the assclown? While what you were doing is legal, it is rude. The fact that you were aware that he wanted to get around you, but were stubborn about it is also aggresive driving. Would it really have hurt you to stay right for nine of those miles? Wouldn't it have been safer to move over and get the guy off your azz?

It's not always about right and wrong, sometimes it is about courtesy.

I have removed the rear-view and side mirrors on all my vehicles so I have no clue if there is anyone behind me or not. Gumbo told me to.

And the guy couldn't have gone around him on the right?

That's what I was just about to post... if you are in the left and come upon a car going slower than you want to be going, you simply go around it... why the need for road rage?

It's the "I'm going to teach him a lesson" mentality.

I'm not saying the tailgater was right, but why add to the road rage when moving right is polite and safe?

I take exception to that. I always accommodate someone that uses their turn signal to indicate a desire to change lanes. Now if you don't signal, I'll play with you, especially if I'm in my car.
After 30+ years of riding a bike, I've become very good at reading other drivers intentions and prefer to err on the side of caution.
