Toyota of Southern MD is CHEAP!!!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the winner is immediately taxed based on the value of the vehicle to tag it and in turn must claim the value of the vehicle as income.... seems to me that this was a wise choice for a broke student.
My whole point is that they could have given away a car less than 13 years old.

Beggars can't be choosers, if it moves it's better than nothing.

Not if it leaves you stranded on the side of road. Ya'll are ranting and raving over taxes, they aren't going to be that much on 96 car. Mom and Dad will cover it. If Mom and Dad are letting the child submit an essay to win, then they can afford to insure it and pay the taxes on it just so they can run up and down the roads and talk on the cell phone.

You, missy, are something else! :lmao:

No wonder you have men pawing all over themselves to get to you. Your infectious, sunny disposition is a magnet for high-quality suitors desperate to take you out on a date.

Most men, by the time they get to my age sweetheart, have their own sets of issues!!! Their dispositions are not that sunny either.

So happy!

I guess you did read very well. The winner was a 24 year old with 2 kids.

Tax value should be on what the dealer gave in trade in value on it, which means not a whole lot. I think it would have been better for them to give away a newer lower-end car than a 13 year old high end car. Say a 5 year old Corolla instead of a 13 year old Camry.
And yes, I agree a free car is a good car, regardless of age, so long as it is in good condition.
When I graduated from High School, a local car dealer (I think it was the Chevy dealer in Upper Marlboro) donated a car as a door prize to the post prom (or whatever the big event was) lock in to keep us from getting blitzed. Did they donate a new car? No. Did they donate a 13 year old car? No. Did they donate a high end car? No. Did they donate a good 3 year old car? Yes. The girl that won it drove it for 10 years after that. I want to say it was a Hundai, but very good chance I am wrong on the brand.

I'd rather have a 13 yr old Camry than a 5 yr old Hundai, bu that's just me.

What?!?! 13 years old? warranties?

They got the car for free. They should say "Thank you" and walk the #### away!

I hope Toyota of Southern Maryland learns a lesson from this. Don't GIVE away ####!! People in general are ungrateful bastards that think they DESERVE things they haven't earned or worked for.

I swear, some of you would complain if a stranger walked up to you in the street and GAVE you $20!!

"Hey ass hole, why didn't you give me $50? you penney pinching SOB!!"

I was not busting on the value of the car. I was busting on the age of the car. Figure it's a $7000 car (1998 Camry at Carmax = $7800 +/-). I would imagine that they could have come up with a newer car with the same value.

Yeah, it would have been frickin' hilarious is Toyota of SOMD gave away a 3 y/o Chevy. :twitch:

Just busting your chops, it does read funny, but that Camry will run a long, long time.

Why the grief? The age and make of the care was in the disclosure. She chose to enter the contest anyway as did many others. You people are nuts.
