Trouble at GMHS?

it may be a rumor but i do know that they have units around the school and the kids are not changing classes they have to stay where they are ....and also at the same time there was someone spotted at the trailer court across the street with a gun about an hour ago that they were looking for....and after seeing the school shootings of other schools i would say that parents have a good reason to freak out and the school should be a little more honest with the parents....

According to the cops at the school, a girl made an off-hand comment yesterday saying she was going to shoot everyone in 6th period lunch today. They have searched the school and found no weapon. The girl was questioned, admitted to starting the rumor with the intention of disrupting school, and has been suspended.

The units are there for crowd control purposes (according to another poster), and there usually is at least cop there at all times, (right?). I didn't hear anything on the scanner about a gun sighting.
How was the school dishonest with you?

hmmmm where did i say they were dishonest with me? i think i said with the parents...when they say oooh noooo nothing going on here we have it all under control. if there is a threat of a shooter they do not have control until that person it apprehended...then it is under control...do you have children? you obviously do not understand the severity of the situation..... i believe it was a statement made the day before at the last school shooting the no one paid attention to. and yes there is a cop there at all times (except like yesterday when three separate times students were arrested for various things and had to be taken to leonardtown...one of them was taken by the cop at the school...which left him unable to be two places at one time....the gun sighting was about an hour before this event was made public at oregon and winding way in lord calvert......

i guess you were not listening to the scanner were you? you might want to call the pd and tell them about putting that stuff over then...except they didn't say gun they said 10-32 first and then gun okay satisfied? and there really is no reason to get so nasty to people that comment...i was telling what i and my co worker heard come over the scanner! that is the only way i knew about it....i also think i will visit any forum that i would like...and hopefullly it will be one that you are not in...you always have nasty remarks to make to people....ever heard of the threefold law?

Believe it or not, they're not out to screw the kids over and let them all die. They took precautionary measures and quickly got the situation under control. If there was a shooting, I'm sure it would be on MSNBC/CNN/FOXNEWS/ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX/BBC/Current and on all the local stations. Remember Virginia Tech? And we would've gotten more than one text message sent off by some freshmen who's hiding from the big bad gunman in his locker.

Second of all, I seriously doubt thats what she was saying. But then you seem to frequently pick fights with people. Really showing them insecurities, huh? I think the school didn't tell people much because they didn't want to create a panic. Witchipooh here is just wishing they had handled themselves precautionary wise a little better. I agree with that.

my scanner is a trunking scanner .....and it picks up everything from sts to metcom to police and fire...and they said there was a report of someone with a gun at the intersection of oregon way and winding way someone in the trailer park reported it and they were sending someone to check it out...that is what we heard did not hear anything after that about it and then got a call from hubby telling me his boss's wife was picking up their daughter because there had been a shooting at the school...and it all started from there...so just because you or your friend did not hear it doesn't mean it didn't come across it....maybe another was coming across his from another department or something i dont know but they said it and maybe it will be in the papers police briefs to verify it...
and by the way i hardly ever post the last time i posted was about a cat i had found wondering if anyone lost it so why would you be sceptical of that? i

Mellabella, who's been here for maybe a month and has recorded all of 10 posts knows me well enough to point out my insecurities!
I think the school did a great job, given the situation. And here's the situation: A few kids with a cell phone and Winnie the Pooh reported there's a shooting so, naturally, everyone has gone apeshat. So, the school informed the parents of the reality of the situation, there was a threat that someone would shoot someone else (a threat magnified to a larger scale than your ordinary threat) because they wanted to get out of school. Oh, and they found a gun in a kid's locker, which happens just about everyday in most area high schools
.So we end up with Mella10posts telling me I'm a dumbass and Winnie the Pooh continuing to report that there's been a shooting inside the school because she heard it on her CB radio.

there was not a shooting at the school...some student threatened to...was caught according to the forums...
the person with the gun was a separate incident in lord calvert trailer park....they were checking it out someone had called it in.
