Trump cabinet picks - off to a good start

Highest rank was an O3 in the guard, education is in politics, and experience seems to be in advocating for veterans and political/military commentary.

Seems like a good choice for the VA as he was apparently considered for during Trumps last administration. I don't really see how that translates to secretary of defense who should, presumably, have considerably high level military leadership experience.
VA needs some serious help. I started my battle about a month ago, never been there in my life. Pulled navy plug in 1991.
I went to DAV at VA hospital. Retired since 1991 first visit, all I want is hearing aids (had audiogram) Tinnitus is outrageous I cannot differentiate between real birds and the aviary living in my head. Cannot process words like Moe or slow. Need wife to translate most important conversations. Guy told me I won't hear from them for 3 to 6 months because current admin CUT VA funds.
Now what REALLY pissed me off is he said I might need to prove loss is service connected. Lets see, ever hear a 5 inch gun fired 20 feet away from you without warning? 2,000 flight hours in recips, turbo props and jets. 3 cruises on flight deck as airframes final checker and the remainder working on flight line ashore.
Nawwww, the loudest environment in the world couldn't be the cause. Not sure if Pete's qualified but if he gets me what I and many others want, good choice. I know there are liars and sick bay commando's out there that game the system, weed them out.

He better get his sht together because the American people are in no mood.
I heard Kayleigh Mcenany talking about that this morning, and she said that Thune would be walking into plans that Speaker Johnson and Trump are already laying out, and that he would work with that well. We'll see

I wasn't in the military but I have probably worked with at least 40 retired military guys from the early 80s on. ALL had serious issues with the VA over the years, appts months out, denials of benefits and other stuff. Not sure if the same issues are prevalent nowadays, gotten better/worse but VA was always said with a sneer when that subject came up.

If your Tinnitus isn't already service connected through the VBA... you WILL need to get it that way before anyone will help you with anything. Have you filed a claim for it yet? If not, you have about 3-6 months before you will get a decision on it.
Since the PACT Act is done, the VA has cut manning pretty severely. Even simple dependency claims are taking ~6 months.
I help veterans with their VBA claims so I have seen first-hand how bad it has gotten in just the last 6 months.

It's all in progress. The DAV guy was good, pulled me off the ceiling when gave me bad news about time and proof. Told him before we even met I'm not going to jump through hoops or kiss someones ass. He suggested I look into PTSD as well, told him to phuck off, either help with the hearing aids or just forget it. If I get them fine if not, should I ever get stage 1000 cancer they will have a body on their doorstep.
WTF good is a large VA hospital if I have to travel to specialist and worse yet Orlando for some kind of board meeting 90 minutes away?

I'm still processing Pete Hegseth.
:huggy:

I did see in one of his Bios that I read today that he's been married 3X. :ohwell: Last one was during the time he was still married. (and she got preggers, also)

I haven't ever heard any of this before and know nothing of any of the circumstances, so I will await to hear more about it before I get all that worked up over it. (Not that I will anyway.)

According to the DAV guy much worse since the senile c*** sucker cut VA funds.
