Matt Gaetz - AG

🤔
So maybe a block against Gaetz.....

Story is now behind a paywall, it wasn't 15 minutes ago. Weird.

Matt Gaetz faces GOP Senate opposition after Trump selection for attorney general.

Sen. Hagerty - TN - being all wishy washy right now on CNN concerning Gaetz’ nomination. Not looking good for Gaetz at the moment.

Gotta say - deep in my gut - I have some apprehension about some of his picks.

I don't know what kind of EXPERIENCE someone needs to have, to be an effective SecDef - or AG - or DNI - but at gut level, I don't feel these were all of the best picks. You need more than military and academic creds for SecDef - you need experience in running a giant bureaucracy. To be AG, you really need to be first rate on the law. To be DNI, you kind of need to show a career in intelligence. I am not seeing it.

I totally GET why Trump is choosing people he can absolutely rely on for loyalty. God knows, he was totally unprepared for how backstabbing people are, in Washington, and your very best friend - you think - will give you up for nothing, on a whim. But I also feel that this is like putting Ben Carson in for HUD Secretary - a job wholly unsuited for his brilliance.

Mike Huckabee for Israel ambassador? That's dead perfect for him. His press secretary and his chief of staff? Outstanding. Zeldin as EPA - excellent.

But the ones that seem like poaching from FOX? Not so much.

And that COULD be the plan. Honestly I’d like to see Cruz there.
But Cruz worked SO hard fighting all the Dem $$ to keep the seat he has. 🤔

I actually heard TWO pundits float that idea last night on 2 different shows I watched. DJT is obviously shaking things up -- and I don't disagree wit that! I didn't realize the ethics case against Gaetz was still open - and it effectively is dropped NOW, because he resigned from HoR. So, I wonder what happens if he doesn't get AG...

Since the end result of him being found guilty - all other things aside - is expulsion from Congress or at least, SOME punitive damage peculiar to being in Congress - his departure pretty much puts an end to it.

And I can EASILY see opponents crying foul if he dodges a bullet only to end up as *AG*.

I say this as an observation and not an insult:

You're not a person who thinks outside the box.

You can't drain the swamp without....draining the swamp. Hegseth will do is part in that, and I think he's up for the job. I admit I too was surprised, but then I did some reading up on him and he's an inspired choice. I too was expecting some longtime political operative, but Trump went outside the box because you can't make changes if you keep the status quo.

If you notice, Trump is choosing cabinet members who have identified problems in that area and haven't been afraid to say so. Gaetz, as we know, has guts and isn't afraid to stand up to the corrupt machine. If you don't believe me ask Kevin McCarthy. Gaetz has already been attacked by the swamp and stood his ground, which is all the qualification I need to support him.

Schumer had the nerve to try and shame Trump into bipartisanship, and Trump promptly gave him the finger by nominating Matt Gaetz as AG. That sends a clear signal: we're coming for you.

Oh, and Republicans who don't want to get with the program? You too, buddy.

I'm excited and I hope with all my heart this is a turning point in our nation.

Nothing, because it was all bullshit and an extortion racket. If they had any proof I think it's safe to say they'd have charged him and McCarthy would have forced him out.

Gaetz as AG is my favorite nomination, and if he has an axe to grind.....I'm right behind you, pal.

I guess I am biased, but after watching the Ethics Committee decide to find Maxine Waters not guilty I don't have a lot of faith in that committee.
By the way the charges against Gaetz were for sexual misconduct and drug use.
Not sure how his resignation will play out. Was he guilty of what he was charged with? Is that why he resigned? That of course is what the Dem media will infer. That is what many will think. If he was guilty Trump needs to change his decision fast as the Senate will shirley (ha ha ) bring it up during confirmation.
