This is why Trump argues there was no crime at all, not even the misdemeanor falsification of records

Nevertheless, companies that do business and pay taxes in New York, such as the Trump organization, are required to maintain accurate books and records, so if an NDA bears on the business, it must be accounted for accurately. Here, Cohen sought reimbursement from the Trump organization, where he worked when he completed the NDA with Daniels a few days before the 2016 election. It was agreed that Cohen would be reimbursed. (I use the passive voice here because, though it is undisputed that Trump reimbursed Cohen, the extent to which he was involved in the structure and details of the repayment is sure to be contested.)
It seems obvious that the resulting business records are false: In reality, Trump paid a debt that he owed Cohen; but in the records, it was made to appear that Cohen, a lawyer, was paid fees for ongoing legal representation.
In sum, the $130,000 Trump owed Cohen was doubled to $260,000 to ensure that Cohen would not take a tax hit. (Legal fees are taxable income; the payment of a debt is not.) Then Cohen was required to submit a monthly invoice throughout 2017, and was paid by check in monthly installments – the early checks drawn on Trump’s revocable trust account and signed by the trustees (Donald Trump Jr. and Trump organization CFO Allen Weisselberg), the others signed by then-President Trump himself and drawn on his personal bank account.

It's no secret I abhor Trump. My reason for this abhorrence is directly related to the way he has always treated women. I got my first whiff of him back in the early 60's. He's done nothing to change my opinion about his piggishness.
HOWEVER.... Politicians "appear" to be interested in the topics the constituents bring up, even though they have no inclination to put that topic on their "to do" list. Their "interest" is a lie, but at least they "pretend" to be the kind of person the constituency wants in office. He did not... and probably never will "appear" to respect the office. This man doesn't even attempt to hide his contempt for women. He'll "grab" them if he so chooses. For that I detest the man.
Trump reminds me of Herod the Tetrarch.
BUT.... I'm a bookkeeper. I've been a bookkeeper for over 35 years. Classification of expenses is essential to proper tax reporting. If Stormy was paid with election funding, that's an error any bookkeeper would be fired for. I had an accountant tell me it was a major cause of tax fraud.
I've also run for public office, so I know we are all warned about proper accounting for campaign funding. I was warned not to mess with the rules concerning proper accounting for campaign funding.
I want to hear it from him. I want him to admit he ordered the miscoding to avoid the appearance of tax fraud or improper accounting for campaign funding.
They're all bums, IMHO, so I'd like to hear it from the accused. Did he tell them to do it that way? Did he ever forward the money to the fixer? Did he instruct the fixer to "fix" the books?
I'm glad Stormy got paid.... a lot of people who did business with the accused will never see their money. She proved how smart she is.
Like my mom said... lay down with dogs and get up with fleas. We expect fleas from politicians.... fleas make a lot of accusations to line their own pockets or get the office they are seeking. We all know that.... so I need to know if the dog really did the deed.
I abhor him.... but I'm not so sure he called the shots. I think there is reasonable doubt in that the fixer is just as ruthless as the accused.
He reminds me of Herod! He would be thrilled if his daughter would do a pole dance.... but I'm not real sure he was actually at the helm for this stuff.
I gotta admit though.... the idea that someone named "Pecker" might bring the law down on the pig is hilarious!!!!

You want him to self-incriminate? Gee, don't we have a little something in our Constitution about not being compelled to give evidence against one's self?
What I want is that he receive a fair trial (not some show monkey trial) where he is either guilty, proven beyond reasonable doubt), acquitted, or the case dismissed by a jury of his peers and DA Bragg censored and dis-barred for his egregious abuse of office.

If he told the fixer to fix, and if he told the fixer to cover the payout in a particular manner, and he still says he did nothing wrong... then say so in court and let the judicial system straighten out the mess.
If he committed no crime.... then he should tell us why he thinks it's ok.
Campaign Finance Laws and Tax Laws are all there to make it at least "appear" to be above board. If the laws need to change... then this is a great time to get it cleaned up. Right?

Oh my dear GURPS.... I have been watching... and I do realize that the fixer said this and the fixer said that... that's why I want to hear it from him, not the fixer, or the "Pecker" or the fixed. I want to hear it from him.
I guess I left something out. If his lawyer doesn't get the judge to keep the cameras out and get a gag order.... the guy might just say it! We all know how he likes to talk "off the cuff". He might admit it... followed by "I did nothing wrong" or "what's wrong with that?"
I'm not a Democrat or a Republican.... I'm registered Independent. I don't like the guy and yep... I'd love to watch him self-incriminate. I don't think anyone would be surprised if he did. All he needs is a camera... lol. He's a glory hound as well as a womanizer.
I do want a fair trial though...

I DO want him to have a fair trial.... because IF he is found guilty by a jury of his peers ... I want there to be no reasonable doubt about it.
IF he's innocent... then the system worked and the innocent were shown to be innocent.
IF he's innocent.... a fair trial will sort all this out.
Gotta admit... IF he's found guilty... I'll be just tickled pink... but I want it to be on the up and up....
