Well, after the talk with school and with him, he woke up this morning and apologized and told me he was excited to go to school. He said he will try to do better.

Someone from the mentoring program will be stopping by daily check on him and try to motivate him to do his class work in a timely manner.

Today, his schedule goes up at home. :yay:

My darling 6 year old, who is the apple of my eye and the cutest thing in the whole world, is a lazy, whiney momma's boy and I can't take it any longer!!

:nono: It's an Ikea loft bed. The TV is underneath:evil:

The oldest goes to bed when she's ready, which is generally 9pm. I make him go to be no later than 10. If he gets up too early, he falls asleep before it gets dark at the end of the day.

Congratulations on raising a democrat's dream voter.

Need a paddle with vent holes........:coffee:

:yeahthat: I can't believe a 6 y/o has a TV in their room and a bed time of no later then 10.

Get a wooden spoon if you don't want to use a paddle. A few taps is all it will take.

 My kids have had TV's forever. They are fine.

I was so flip flopy with the tv in my son's room (also 6). No cable hookup :yay: He has dvds and vhs tapes but rarely is it on, he spends his time drawing.

I never had a tv in my room until I was about 16 and even then it was black and white, still no cable, I rarely watched it, I was too busy listening to music and writing.

Thank god, I thought you were still mad at me for dropping the f bomb in the pm I sent you :whew:

Yep, that much of a :loser: I never won but was a finalist in the Bucks County Poet Laureate every time I entered.

My son has discovered that he can draw all sorts of animls, currently he loves drawing crabs, eels, storks and pelicans. He drew a pic of the stork that (a hem) Paso (a hem) "found" :lmao:

You just managed to piss me off. I'm not a democrat and I don't see what that has to do with anything. That's offensive, because you just said that my son is going to grow up to be a half-wit follower who can't think for himself.

You read in to my posts, missing the point that my son was making excuses and trying to remain the baby I made him in to. Seeing the error of my ways, I posted this thread to see if anyone had some options for me other than threats, lies and heavy handed discipline. Too make him see that he can't do that and correct the behavior is much more effective than demanding he do as I say simply because I said so.

The TV was placed there last year because I am fed up with watching cartoons. He only really watches it about an hour or so a day. No TV in the morning, none at bed time.
Going to bed at 10 pm allows him the time to get everything he has to do done and still sleep 8-10 hours a night. I have worked weird hours and swing shifts for their entire lives. Going to bed at 10 pm is a much better alternative than going to bed at 8 at a sitter, getting up at 2 am to drive home then getting up earlier than necessary to eat, bathe, do homework and get dressed for school.

I've been told I'm a very strict parent and won't think twice about a good ol' fashioned whoopin', if I feel its necessary. I'm pretty old school when it comes to manners, discipline and NOT giving my kids 1000's of dollars in toys and crap.

Have a nice day, turd cutter.:coffee:

My darling 6 year old, who is the apple of my eye and the cutest thing in the whole world, is a lazy, whiney momma's boy and I can't take it any longer!!

So, since he complains soooo much that he's tired and he hates school, and I fight him about everything from picking up to helping out to getting dressed in a timely manner...

This morning I let him stay home, again, but every time he leaves his bed, I say get dressed.

I hope this works. I've tried cajoling, bribery, and threats.....Let's see how much he hates school and schleps around after sitting on the top bunk alone with out toys for 6 hours....

:ohwell:

I will gladly trade you one 10 and a half year old that hides in the bathroom with the new Victoria's catalog for Bebop....I'll get yours to go to school(and like it) and you get the catalog away from zman....when should I expect you?
