I don't know about a kid, but I surf the internet, listen to the scanner and watch TV at the same time. For me it's probably not 'cool' as I can only keep up with one thing at a time so it's all a blur.

I am listening to the TV, surfing the Internet, chatting with a few friends and waiting for this squirrel to return to our bird feed so my son can give him a treat. Let the kid watch TV and surf.

I did for hours, and it got too hot and humid. I just want a happy cool space and stood in the kitchen to read. One noise I can deal with. Two? No.
