USPS stealing from its customers

The only problem that I have with the post office down here is that they keep putting other people's mail in my home mailbox. I could see them making that mistake with one of my neighbors because things may stick together sometimes, but when it's mail for someone on a different street, and it happens regularly, you know they aren't paying much attention to what they're doing.

We've had problems prior to the sorting facility changing but they weren't outright theft. A package that was bought/ordered online was shipped USPS to the house. The fat, lazy, piss poor attitude biatch (who I'm guessing got canned) that delivered mail leaned the package against the mailbox. At the end of our 30 yard long driveway. Out of sight from the house, next to the road. Sweet. Nice to know your fat ass couldn't walk 35 yards to place the 5 lb package on our porch. She'd also show up at odd hours. One day you got the mail at noon but most other days it would be around 4.

Besides that we constantly got mail marked for people up to a mile away. WTF? Now it's theft and as mentioned by others getting things a month late.

I got a neighbors mail the other day, so I left in my mail box for the carrier to get it, the carrier piled my new mail on top of it! So the neighbor still doesn't have their mail. Guess I'll have to deliver it myself?

Did you put the flag up or just leave it?

This has happened to me as well. Yes, even when I put the flag up.

of course used the flag, how else would they know it wasn't yesterday's mail (sometimes it is LOL)

Yeah, this happened twice to me after I moved into my house. Both times I left the mail in the box with the flag up and both times I ended up driving in my truck to deliver the mail. Lesson learned after that.

Oh, forgot to mention that the mail delivery person nearly tore the door off of the box when she didn't close it completely and it was caught on the truck. The wife saw her do it and stopped her. She got "Sorry, I didn't notice." as a reply yet the lazy jerk didn't offer to fix it. I had to bend it back into shape when I got home.

Man, I don't know about some of ya'lls mail person. :shakinghead:

I LOVE my mail guy. He's consistently on time, he's thoughtful in bringing larger items directly to our front door, he dodges our dogs, he's never screwed up our mailbox, nor has he ever delivered someone else's mail to our box. Heck, almost 2 years after we left our old address - right down the road from where our current house is - we still get mail addressed to the old home, and he ALWAYS brings it to us without fail.

And as a whole, I have no complaints on the USPS.

Our mail guy is awesome. :yay:

I like our regular mail guy too but I definitively notice a difference when he has a sub. The sub once folded my daughters school pictures to fit them in the box. Yep it said PHOTOS: Do not bend and she put a nice big crease down them to fit them in. The regular guy always brings packages and stuff like that to the stairs by the door.

Our carrier is great in situations like this.

My question is, do you, not you personally, but you collectively, tip during the Holidays?

We're working poor and just squeeking by, but our service is great, but we're working poor...

It's not like she delivers to a McMansion.

I tip my specific guy. I make sure he is the one delivering (he passes by the house to get across the street then goes around the cul de sac to our house) and run out and stick a card with cash in the box the week sometime the week before Christmas.
Like I said I like the regular guy...he does a great job.

Every previous year we have "given a gift" to our mail lady. Had never had a problem with the mail, It arrived at 11:30 every day. That was until about a year ago. Now we never know if or when our mail will arive. Sometimes it is 10:30 and sometimes it is 7pm sometimes not at all. Sucks when you are trying to do netflix and have a child that lives next door who has very limited adult supervision and loves to play in your mail box. We have also had several gift cards go missing lately.

I can't believe there is a thread about this! All of my cooking magazines for holiday recipes came in the week after Christmas, including one for Thanksgiving! Paid for overnight shipping and the package was received two days later, and what recourse do I have after shelling out that money? Nothing!
Glad to hear I'm not crazy!

I got my Dec Food Network magazine the Thursday after Christmas, had the most beautiful cover photo of Christmas cookies. And the Country Living had a great list of gift ideas - also came Thursday after Christmas. :duel: I'm going to get in touch with the publishers, my local PO can't do a thing about when they get the mail in their office.

If you paid for Express Mail service, and still have your receipt, take it to any PO. They will look it up, and if it was truely delivered late, you are entitled to a full refund.

Not all zips are guaranteed overnight, your receipt should be marked with the expected delivery date.

:whack: I KNEW there was something else that didn't get done this holiday! I usually throw a box of candy in the mail box the week before Christmas.

But a gift should not get you more or less service, just something we've always done - one of those tradition things.

Got another catalog today that stated "please deliver between November 29 and December 8". Gotta love it.

And PO employees get all bent out of shape when they are threatened with closure of their facility. Our local PO is slated for discussions for closure in the near future. I wonder how many peeps will go and complain about the mail delivery.

I will give you a hint. It was sticky

How funny that right after this thread there is someone who started a thread asking for people to report fraud against the usps LOL

http://forums.somd.com/life-southern-maryland/238649-fraud-against-usps.html

"If any of you know of any fraud schemese against the USPS, I'd like to know about it. You can PM me if you like. I'm interested in any company or person running scams against the USPS whether it be a local garage having vehicle maintenance repairs, contracts with the local post office for landscapping, snow removal, roof repairs, trucking companies that are defrauding the USPS and/or their drivers, etc. The USPS is going through some very rough times and now's the time to stop the bleeding. I'll make sure your PMs get to the right person."
