Flags are flown to show allegiance. Period. You know that as well as I do.

If Southerners want to express pride in their heritage, they can design a new flag for that purpose, not use the battle flag of a defeated enemy of the United States.

Regarding renaming military bases, I just read in my American Legion Magazine, that the front runner for a renamed Fort Benning is Fort Moore after Lt Gen Hal Moore.

Someone replied to me back then this was "extreme". Look where we are today.

See, it started with a flag and kept going from there. It is never about just one thing. You give an inch, they keep going.....
