Watching Fox coverage and interviews of all the Tesla protesters yesterday…

Already read it and in my opinion, it was the writer's opinion that it was mandatory. There's stuff out there that said it wasn't mandatory, but the financial incentives made it very worthy of consideration. Maybe it's that fine line with the word mandatory.
By eliminating internal combustion engines from being manufactured.... It becomes mandatory since there would be no further gasoline vehicles.

The whining was your opinion. And yes I'm quite sure you spend your spare time on your knees servicing whatever. Don't take it too hard that will only damage your tonsils.

Lets try this....

Breathing is not MANDATORY if you CHOOSE to end your life, but if you wish to go on living... Ya Gotta Do IT!

:jet:
Disagree breathing is mandatory also an involuntary reflex. The word becomes is something that could happen not necessarily that did happen. I agree that eliminating gas engines could cause mandatory EV because there is nothing to replace it but gas engines weren't eliminated so therefore mandatory did not happen.

Anyway, I'm done arguing or expressing my POV whatever this is. Appreciate the discussion and the fact that it was kept free of the name calling.

FWIW - getting rid of gas engines was just plain stupid to begin with.

Again with the homoerotic fantasy. Just come out of the closet already.
That is what I enjoy about starting a conversation with you. It's like fishing around a school of feeding tuna, you know that they are going to take the bait, then make a run, then flop around a bit after boating. To no avail. 🤣

  • EV Mandate:
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) includes a goal that requires EVs to make up 50% of all vehicles sold in the U.S. by 2030.

  • State-Level Actions:
    • California: California has set a target to phase out new ICE vehicle sales by 2035, with a gradual increase in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales shares.

    • Other States: Other states like Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington are also moving towards phasing out new ICE vehicle sales, with varying timelines.

Power with Control
And then there were all the voluntary debacles.

Electric School Buses. Electric Transit Buses. Electric Cop Cars. Electric Govt. Vehicles....

Strangely those are all very rare sights these days. I wonder what happened to them?

Went the way of the Stanley Steamer. Just not practical for industrial use.

Your takeaway focusses on the wrong aspect. Its not that EVs are bad for these uses, its bad govt incentivizing other govts to buy crappy products from shady businesses. That's the secret ingredient to failure here, govt.

Its about proper implementation and a true use case analysis. Amazons been fielding a fleet of EV vans from Rivian for a while now. Pepsi loves their Tesla Semis. And with the factory starting production this year, so will many more.

The big issue with busses is just like the big problem with solar a few years back. The Feds just tossed out blank checks. And shady characters took advantage of that to suck that money up. Nobody reputable makes an EV school bus for a reason. The market isnt big, and it takes a crap ton of batteries. Our domestic makers dont have battery capacity to supply the few low volume EVs they do sell. And they are packing them into hgih margin SUVs.

Just let the freakin market work and dont force it.
