I would like to thank those SOB's that walked off and decided NOT to even so much as ask me if I needed assistance this morning.

You know, I was just as freaked out as the next person. It is not everyday you are standing outside, turn to say good morning to somebody and watch them collapse in what appeared to be a seizure, a mere 2 feet away from you. Even if it was to talk to 911, it would have been appreciated, but no, people just looked at me juggling a phone and a person collapsed on the ground, never even stopping, and it was only after a few minutes, one person, just one person, stopped.

To that one person that stopped and assisted me this morning, I would like to say thank you, although the chances of you reading it here are slim. But nontheless, once the ambulance got there and they lifted her up to transport her, I looked around and didn’t see you to say those words. But no good deed goes unrewarded.

For those others that walked away with total disregard what goes around comes around, and surely hope there never comes a day when you might need assistance.

For some reason you think that the one person that DID help, doesn't read the forums, but the rest that DIDN'T help, DO read the forums?

Thanks. Luv ya. Mean it.

Do you work in DC? I know around here people crowd around stuff like that. It was very nice of you to help the person in need.

Unfortunately, we've all heard stories about how Joe Samaritan stopped to help someone and got a nice fat lawsuit for his trouble. I used to think those were made-up stories - how could anyone possibly be so nonsensical and ungrateful? Then I started doing this for a living and realized that, yes, there are a lot of screwed up people in the world. (And I'm not talking about you forum folks, either)

I work in Waldorf and was having a difficult time getting the emergency dispatcher to understand where our building was located. The name of the building is also the name of a road in this county, but this building is not anywhere near that road. Each time I bent down, the signal went out on the cell phone, which is why assistance would have been appreciated.

I was calm during the incident, but OMG, afterwards, I was like, this did NOT just happen. :shocking:

And Elaine, she was out for 3-4 minutes, shaking, eyes fluttering, but breathing. When the ambulance got there, she was still in and out shaking badly, dizy, said she her stomach hurt. Word has it her appendix may have burst. :ohwell:

Yep, at last years car show in Philly, this disoriented elderly woman road her scooter across the floor to the top of the escalator, and before my buddy knew it, she was on her way down, wheels over head. People were just stepping over her at the bottom and going about their business.

My bud helped her and even the security guard posted right there resisted to help. After they loaded her onto the ambulance, my bud went home. When he got there, there was a message from the police dept. Seems that someone had stolen the old lady's scooter, and they were questioning my buddy about it. He had no idea what happened to it. He even recieved several phone calls from her family about it.

I don't think any of those folks post on these forums either. But I'm not sure. I wasn't there.

Kizzy, I'm soo sorry to hear you had seizures this morning :frown: And I feel terrible that noone stopped to help you. If you need anything, please let me know... you are just down the street from me. I sincerely hope you feel better and are able to find the person that helped ... :flowers:

Vrai - you are correct about people turning against the Joe Samaritans'....when I was growing up - a family friend of my fathers pulled a man from a car after a horrific accident just minutes before the car caught on fire and he ended up getting sued for it and it was based on the grounds that the family friend didn't have any formal medical training or something or other... it was thrown out of court... but still the nerve to sue someone for something like that just makes me think... maybe he was just trying to check out of the world...

 well... after re-reading I think it could be read both ways  I thought she was speaking in third person here and there... she was upset noone had assisted her and how would folks feel if they were the one lying there in a seizure and shaking with a phone and then she looked around for said person that helped and wanted to thank the person for helping her the person was gone

Kizzy... are you ok? I feel relieved it wasn't you but still feel for the person that noone assisted... you said only one person assisted you  Am I the only one reading this the wrong way? I read the other posts and I though people were just being funny ... :ohwell: Which is it Kizzy - was it two people that helped the lady or was it you that was having problems and only one person assisting as stated  :frown: Sorry for any confusion I caused... :frown:

She works in the building, fairly new, always friendly, says hi, but I never had more than those words with her. The building manager said she'd let me know.
