What is on you Menu for Thanksgiving?

BadGirl

I am so very blessed
I dunno, but it's gotta be heinous to rack up that kind of punishment. I waited and waited for the McRib for YEARS... literally - and then this happens.

It's just awful.
I've never had a McRib. Are they tasty? They don't even sound good.

Oh, sorry to hear of your recent health & diet troubles, but glad that you're on your way to a healthier YOU! :huggy:

They are DISGUSTING! Bought into the hype last week and got one. 2 bites later it was in the trash :barf: X1000000 The processed patty of preservatives had no flavor other than the gross BBQ sauce it was covered with. Nasty! Nasty! Nasty!

Don't they have a suggestion for a type of pie or other dessert that will fit into your diet?

Oh yeah, you can find diabetes-friendly pies all over the internet. It's not really the pie that gets me... It's not even the diabetes that gets me... it's the sodium. My diet is very strictly low-sodium... my daily limit of sodium is like 2000 mg or something like that. I also have to lay off fried foods.

My favorite foods are the stuffing, corn, taters, turkey and fried mushrooms, and I like to saturate them all in gravy. A plate like that will attack all of my current conditions.

But... I'd rather see my kids next Thanksgiving than end up buried by Christmas because I can't control myself. So... I'm going to enjoy what I get, even if there's no gravy or layers upon layers of turkey skins. The good news is that I didn't eat in the hospital for 3 weeks, and my stomach has shrunk to the size of a thimble. It's very surprising how little it takes to satisfy my appitite these days, so maybe on Thanksgiving, I'll be content with my modified dinner portions.

Here's hoping

OMG - they are SO good.

I don't guess the meat is anything more than processed pork, but it's drenched in a delicious bbq sauce, and topped with chopped onions and pickels.

I could eat 6 right now.

Yeah... I'm definitely getting healthy. I went in for a check-up this morning, and things are looking way up.

I would not be allowed in my sister's home if I didn't bring my crock of spinach casserole (note: the recipe is for a small crock)

She pretty much eats the whole thing and gives people the hairy eyeball if they touch it.

Mmmm. Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

yumm..that looks good..curious about the cottage cheese though..i could probably subsitute cream cheese..will I miss something if I do? The texture of cottage cheese is a little iffy to me at the moment...lol

It is a gelatinous steamed and pressed patty of ground pork, complete with mechanized indentions to produce the faux effect that it is a series of parallel ribs, slathered in a BBQ sauce similar to Kraft with bits of onion.

Nausea alert:

I just saw an ad at the bottom of this page for "Tofurkey & Gravy Soda". 100% vegan Limited Edition.

$11.99 for a six-pack.

I'm off to vomit now.

And 2 slices of pickle, the only good thing about the sandwich

This recipe sounds really good, I love spinach and I'm always looking for new ways to make it. The flavor of the cream cheese may be too strong, not sure. I was wondering if maybe ricotta cheese would be good in place of the cottage cheese? I'm not a huge fan of cottage cheese. But I don't know if the texture of ricotta would be much better for you?

does cottage cheese "melt" down? I dont think I have ever used it in aot recipe before..if it melts down..I wouldnt mind..I just wouldnt want to be eating spinach and get clumps of cottage cheese..lol though ricotta is a good idea!

I am breaking away from the normal turkey, gravy, etc. etc. I will be making authentic chicken peri peri(south african recipe) not the delicious adultarated nando restaurant recipe, garlic mashed potates or mashed sweet potatoes, indian corriander chutney(for the chicken), mango lassi, miso soup, salad, dessert will be mixed fruit, and a pumpkin roll.
