No you can't draft players but when I coached we went and found kids that were on the bench at other schools and we tried them out and brought them out but there is almost 3000 kids in chopticon and he can't find a good one:confused:? But maybe this isn't his year I mean he did lose his starting running back but it's not all on the back. Maybe it's finally griff's time to shine we'll see what happens this year and next year

Ok but there is actually 2900 kids in the school look it up. Great mills has about 1800.

You are too funny! 2,900 students!!! You must have gotten your info from Wikipedia!!!

And if you actually were going out and found kids that were on the bench at other schools, well, that sounds a little fishy to me. Does that mean you were recruiting kids and having them play out of their district? So were you actually a HIGH SCHOOL football coach??? Or just a pee wee coach that trolled??? And if you were/are just a pee wee coach, that's one of the reasons the Pigskins have died. Stacking the deck, drafting players ahead of time and out of their districts... I could go on and on. :jerry:

Look, I'm by no means knocking Great Mills and kudos to ALL of them, coaches, players, managers, everyone. They're doing a great job and next year if L'town does the same thing, I'm sure we'll be having this same discussion except "insert Leonardtown here." Everyone's got the same schedule next year as they do this one, so we'll see.

I just hate (a) people that don't know their facts; (b) wannabees that think they know it all; and (c) idiots that love to take all the credit for the entire world. :bigwhoop:

Chopticon is a 3A division school, LHS & GMHS are Div. 4A. I believe the cut off is somewhere around 1501 (?).

Look at the best schools offensive stats and you will see one thing stand out: Balance.
Great rushing & passing - by more than one player.

I'm not sure if you are disagreeing with me or agreeing with me? But I respect you all the same. :buddies:

That didn't make a lot of sense - did it? What I was trying to say is: Sometimes it's a good thing to graduate a bunch, just to have the turnover and get better players.

I do have one question that has always bothered me about CHS: What do you guys feed those kids up there? They are huge!
Send some of it south! Let's get the show on!

You look it up. MPSSAA has the state divided into 4 different divisions, based on enrollment figures at each school. Leonardtown and GMHS are both Division 4A schools; Chopticon is 3A. 4A schools are the schools with the highest enrollment figures. Chopticon has a lower number of students in their school compared to Leonardtown and GMHS, and neither of them have close to 3,000 kids. :duh:

And if you are going to bust on Lisanti's chops about having all those kids to choose from, why not ask the same question about Leonardtown? They have more kids to choose from than Chopticon, yet they haven't had a winning record in how long?

Exactly.

And I think, if I understand it correctly, the classifications are based upon 25% ranges: the top 25% of Maryland schools (by enrollment numbers) are 4A; the next 25% are 3A and on down the line.

But I don't know if that can even be considered as a valid factor in a W-L column. Huntingtown (5-0), Westlake (4-1), Chopticon (0-5), all 3A teams. Patuxent (4-1) a 2A team. Leonardtown (1-4), North Point (5-0), both 4A teams. Well, I don't believe North Point should even be in SMAC, but that's a whole 'nother thread.

What I see is a lot of people wanting to put science to something for which there can be no exact science (What % is the Coach's fault? What % is the players' faults? What % is the field? Who had a bad day Friday? Who wore the wrong color socks to the game?) It's simply trial and error and back to the first statement, share the wealth. If something isn't working halfway into the season, maybe it's time to start looking elsewhere on the team.

I thought you were going to stay "off of" here until Chopticon beats L'town. By my calendar that is November 6th, so go away! :poof:

Why is that?

North Point is a magnet school, therefore one-half of their student body does not necessarily come from within their zone. Because they are not limited to their own boundaries, they have an unfair advantage over the other SMAC schools.

so then the same would be said for Ryken?

Ryken is not in SMAC. They are in WCAC. All of the other schools in that conference are private and pay to go to their schools, so it's an even playing field. They are allowed to recruit their players. They have scholarships. Apples and oranges.

:yeahthat: I know kids that live in Cobb Island, Newburg and Benedict that go to North Point. Basically North Point could "recruit" students to sign up for the various course clusters that they offer in order to play sports there. Not to mention, their athletic facilities are the best in the state. :faint: Who wouldn't want to go play for them?

Fbcritic is somehow tied to the "new" semi pro team that is forming.

Can't wait until next year when someone starts the thread......."Whats up with the semi-pro team".
