Just cuz it's loud, doesn't mean it has soul.

or a pulse
The bass totally drives this piece. Heard it live two years ago in Annapolis. Unforgettable.

My husband chose to watch Platoon today for the umpteenth time. The soundtrack is so soul searching. It makes me think about the ones that died in a useless war so many years ago, and have died in useless wars ever since. God bless you. You are with God. And, thank you for everything you did. I want to think it wasn't in vain. To think of the lives lost in the current wars is heartwrenching. What was it all for, for God's sake? It was for self serving politicians. Period. I was able to celebrate Independence Day because of your self sacrifice. Not to exclude the ones left behind that are not getting the benefits they deserve. What is wrong with our country?

But it's not fossilized either, thankfully.

Pffft...kids...

Here's some soul for you. Joni Mitchell (for Jazz), singing "River," while accompanying herself on piano. One of the rare times I can remember hearing her playing piano, actually.

Thanks, that was very nice. :yay:

I've been obsessed with the latest offering from Keb' Mo' - his Blues Americana album. This is my favorite song. :)

I think most of us who are old enough remember Maria Muldaur remember "Midnight at the Oasis." It was played to death on the radio, back in the day. "Don't you feel my leg" got air play, but not like Midnight, for some reason. But then again, I only listened to the radio in the car and at work. Right now, I'm diggin' on her.

Maria Muldaur, "Maria Muldaur."

I'm diggin' it! Was never into Keb' Mo' (what's up with that name?) until I heard him on some of the Playing for Change songs.

Okay, I confess, I stumbled across Babymetal a few weeks ago while perusing the Youtubers React Series and I was fascinated by it. Not enough to watch it on a regular basis.

I came across Youtubers React to Babymetal, and clicked, never having heard of "babymetal" before. Leave it to the Japanese.

Speaking of JPop (Japanese Pop music), KPop (Korean), CPop (Chinese), it's been around since when I was a kid.

Rebecca Pan, "Bengawan Solo."

and the most famous one of all:

Kyu Sakamoto - "SUKIYAKI"

This isn't Babymetal...more like Babyrockabilly. The Collins kids, from around 1957 or 1958. That puts Larry around 13 or 14, and his sister Lorrie at 15 or 16.

Twin Peaks soundtrack. I had this on cassette; maybe still do. I loved the weirdness of the series and the music was perfect.
